| I used to love Potato Puffs...they were seriously yummy (especially the BBQ flavour). You only got Potato Puffs from bakers not supermarkets I believe.
Chocolate Garibaldis were gorgeous ...as were Choc-au-lait biscuits. (they were the rippley chocolate ones).
What happened to Oxo Crisps? They were yummy (much better than Marmite or Bovril flavour).
Not noticed about the cucumbers...all I know is they don't taste of anything anymore nor do tomatoes. You've got to go to Greece to get any decent salad. in my humble opinion.
Gee this is fun.
PS Powell out!

You will be telling us that you used to eat sugar sandwiches next.

| jaybs you are fortunate not being a potato lover...it leads only to disappointment and inches round your middle.

| I asked an ex work colleague, a Jerseyman who lives there, about the spuds. He says "They do say that it is the use of artificial fertilizer instead of traditional seaweed."
Found this also: Quote Each bag of Jersey Royals sold can be traced back to the farm on which the potatoes were grown, guaranteeing taste and quality. The name Jersey Royals is emblematic of the sun soaked côtils, the fresh sea breezes and, in some cases, the ‘Vraic’, or seaweed, which is used by farmers as a natural fertiliser.'"
Maybe somebody, probably not a supermarket, is importing the real thing?

| On the subject of foods gone by, anybody remember these?
Seem to recall having these as a kid long before we had a Chinese or Indian in town in the early 70's.

They were bought out by Pot Noodle and became the main staple diet of millions of unfortunate students around the world.

| Talking of sandwich fillings……..my old mum like many of her generation always used to keep a bowl of meat dripping (i.e. fat) from the Sunday roasts to use in everyday cooking……..none of these modern fancy cooking oils `drizzled` on your grub!!.
I liked nothing better than a sandwich from a crusty white loaf with a thick spread of dripping and of course plenty of salt…….we might as well have been filling our arteries with Polyfilla……..happy days

| Ooh I would love a bit of bread and dripping now...remember mixing the white lardy stuff with the brown jelly then bunging loads of salt on top..yummy!
Of course, could be the reason why I've got hypertension....that or following the Broncos all these years. Wonder what percentage of our fans have got high blood pressure? Or depression..

| Continuing the thread, surely the best sandwich is a chip butty, butter, salt, vinegar, and in times of plenty, Heinz' finest.
