| Yes, I thought that, Jillie.
The South Stand had the neutrals/newbies in whilst Cas fans were (mainly) in the North.
It was good to see people in three of the stands in what was the biggest attendance for a game against Cas since 2000 (think that was the game at the Valley where Cas fans had free coaches laid on).
BTW, Gus Mackay said in London Calling that they've got a partnership with the ES and will be working with them on a number of "initiatives" throughout the season.

If they had the initiative to get their hands on the free tickets in the first place they were probably clever enough to get seats in the other stands!
It seemed like a good promotion. Decent match with a thrilling climax and best atmosphere for ages. Some friends of mine went along with free tickets and enjoyed it. Hopefully we can keep pulling enough people to have three stands open on a regular basis.

I saw very few Cas fans in the south stand. And those I did appeared after halftime. I suspect many of those picked up the tickets through the LES deal (like I did) or even through the match ball sponsers Merrill Lynch Wealth Management.
Quote ="Dan Stains woz God".....................The South Stand had the neutrals/newbies in whilst Cas fans were (mainly) in the North...........................'"
And a few that had fallen by the wayside in previous years. There was a dad and his lad sat behind me. Dad had been to see Fulham in his teenage years but stopped when "we" became nomads around London. His Lad is now the proud owner of a Quins RL shirt. On my way home by train I was talking to 3 gents 2 whom had never been to a RL match of any kind previously. Both were enthralled with the spectacle and thought the atmostphere was quite good as well. Would think about going again............ on a promo.

I'd go further and say that it was the support of the crowd that saw Quins almost snatch a victory from the jaws of defeat. Had the game been played on the regular Sunday pm slot with two stands only with fans in it having any fans in it I'd bet that we'd have lost with more than the 26 points conceeded. I believe that the atmostphere was also created because it was an evening match.

It appears that we have a CEO who is using his contacts book and promotional/marketing experience to the club's benefit. As for Quins RL working with the LES, I picked up a physical copy on the way home at Waterloo Underground and to my amazement found two albeit small articles regarding the game that night in it. Hope it's the first of many and these will grow in size. Wonders may never cease.
Well done to Gus Mackay and his team for putting on an "event". Let's hope for many more.

Seconded. The fact that it was an exciting game can't have hurt, either.

| Outstanding result IMO!
4K+ on a Friday is a cracking gate....and it is great to hear that some of the newbies may well come back. The Yorkshireman I got my tickets for has emailed to say the only thing he didn't enjoy was the flat southern ale and if they had Tetley he'd be a ST holder
Seriously, he hadn't been to a RL game since the 70's when he was a regular at headingly and he says reckons that the best audience to target would be (if you can find them) ex-pat northerners like him. He and the wife stayed for a couple of beers afterwards and reckon that the wierdest thing was listening to cockneys talk about RL with passion and Knowledge ...he will be back again this year (especially if he can get more free tickets).
I await the customer survey that I believe is vital in these sorts of campaigns.....an email to all those who got freebies. Simply remove the Castleford postcodes first and offer 4 free tickets for Catalans AND the Salford games to all who respond.

| Enjoyed the game, looking back now after a few days cool off. At the time I felt we should have won being 24-10 up at one point. Quins are always dangerous with players such as Dorn and Gale running at big tired defenders. On the ticket offer and crowd, seemed it was a good time to do it. Cracking result, exciting game and one which surely must get the excitement of rugby league across to the new guys. Hope it kick starts a rise in attendances.

Probably a good example of the editorial and advertising/promotions desks pursuing different agendas and failing to talk to each other.

He was a freelance who was hoping to sell a short piece to the ES or Metro. It would only have been a couple of sentences with a quote from a newby on how good the game was, but he obviously didn’t manage to convince editorial to run it.
To his credit he did put in an awful lot of effort to brief himself and talk to as many people as possible. Ten minutes after half time he was worried when he saw a number of freebies leaving but in the end he saw that the vast majority who stayed were happy to have come. He was particularly surprised and impressed by the number of passionate and knowledgeable southerners he came across, having believed only northerners had any affinity with the game and he was quite taken with the away crew angle (small group regularly invading northern strongholds.) So even though nothing came of this particular evening it could lead to stories down the track.
An interesting by-product of the ES exercise is that it jogs the memory of oldbies and lets a vast number of people know that RL is alive and kicking in the metropolis. One guy told us he was prompted to put in an appearance again having been reminded by the advert how good was the matchday experience down at the Stoop. That effect might account for a very small number but how many more people were made aware by the advert that RL exists in London? Just getting it into people’s consciousness has got to be worth something.
Congrats to PP on his excellent bit of PR work on the Comeallwithin board.

Probably because the game was rubbish and they fancied going to the pub instead.

Haow many is "loads"?
Seriously......I am slightly worried that after about 1,000 people or so requested freebies that the club has yet to contact them directly and ask them what they thought. An email should have been built "before' the game kicked off and the email sent as soon as the final hooter went.......IMO that is

getting anything in ES is a start......I would have suggested that a "snide' letter from a "newbie" to the sports editor at ES thanking them for the great free offer and how much of a great time was had by all...........ego boosting and fawning, but probably would have been printed

I got a email to say I'd "won" and my tickets where on route.
I suspect the way that the tickets where dispatched, tickets in envelope with address label stuck on meant that the tickets issued and redeemed on the matchday were not traceable as I suspect they didn't record which "guest" received which tickets, making a "targetted" follow up survey to those "guests" attending impossible.
As for no coverage in the paper, I can understand that space in the physical copy is limited but to find no follow up article on their website was to say a tad disappointing.
But as Morcheeba sang "Rome wasn't built in a day.".
Keep the faith.

Seems that they will now be making efforts to capture some data, I received this e-mail last night....
=#BF0000Following on from the successful promotion we did through the Evening Standard for the Castleford Tigers game, we are asking you, as a valued Season Ticket holder, to help us.
We are inviting you to bring a friend along to the Salford City Reds game on Saturday 30th April which kicks off at 18.00 here at The Stoop.
To get your ticket for your friend, all you need to do is exchange Voucher No 5 from your season ticket booklet for a match ticket. This can be done on the day by visiting the Ticket Office at Gate 3 from 16:00.
As we look to build our supporter base that will hopefully in time grow our attendance figures, we need to capture your friend’s data. Therefore we are asking your friend to write his/her details on the back of the voucher which must include name, address, telephone number and email address.
We are looking forward to seeing you and your friends at the Salford game and ask you all to please support this promotion. Should you have any queries please contact us on 0871 527 1325 or info@quinsrl.co.uk
Many thanks
