| Quote ="SlowCoach"What I cannot understand is why the non-indigenous pantomime that is American Football think they can make a go of it in London when RL cannot. 3 games at Wembley in 2014 just announced that will presumably play to a packed house and more talk of a possible London based franchise. Admittedly the NFL success rate in London to date is not exactly stellar - but they are giving it another shot..........
Is it just a love of all things American and sport as theatre, is it the might of the NFL marketing machine or is it just that RL is not getting its act together to appeal to London crowds? There seems to be a huge appetite in London for excellence in sport so I am assuming it is the latter?
Good luck in your fight for survival BTW. If it helps at all as a northerner based in London I see a strong and successful London presence at both community and professional level as key factor to the development of our sport in the Northern Hemisphere.
PS I also heard the Leyton Orient rumour elsewhere

| Orient is a non-starter, surely. Barry Hearn wants Orient in the Olympic Stadium and if (albeit a very small chance) they got the right to play in the Stadium, that would leave LB back on the streets.
Who would be in charge? It wouldn't be Hearn, his age and the fact that the business isn't worth anything would mean he would want nothing to do with the business but would be happy to take the rent money.

Yes, several times, both first team and academy. Admittedly this was under the Harlequins banner a couple of years back.
The Stoop was a real ball ache for me to get to. Frankly being based North of London it is almost quicker to qo back up North and watch games there.....
Hopefully you will move to somewhere far more sensible and accessible in North East London and well away from the rabidly conservative RU heartland of "Twickers".

If RL fans that see the importance of our club can't be bothered to travel from North London to South West London to watch us play then you can see why why we have a problem.

| Oi don't you dare go kicking rugby balls against a statue of my kith and kin (Exact relationship depends on which family tree you believe and is a bit murky.)
More seriously today was a good reminder of what a wonderful sport this is, I thought Australia were superb. I've already bought an Oxford season ticket but hope to see those of you who know who I am somewhere in London next season.

| That Orient Vital Football page has no meaning. It's a fan run website for the 92 Football League. Vital Football pay writers to hit targets by producing a certain amount of articles per month and this is probably just an article to help the newsfeed and to keep the number of articles ticking over in order to hit those targets.

| Nigel Woods on Sky Sports News this morning
[urlhttp://www1.skysports.com/rugby-league/news/15323/9053493/rfl-chief-executive-nigel-wood-determined-to-build-on-success-of-hosting-2013-world-cup[/url
"There are meetings on Monday on issues such as sponsorship, which will hopefully result in some good news for the sport.
"Also, one of the actions this week is to resolve the future of London Broncos. There is a lot of goodwill towards that club and they've got a very committed owner.
"The RFL are supporting the people who are interested in promoting rugby league in London as much as we can."

Good article ... www.smh.com.au/rugby-league/leag ... 2yl5q.html
The bit that made me smile - 'However, many in Australia would question the damage to the game's credibility without a team based in London and it is understood Smith and NRL game development manager Andrew Hill met with Broncos chief executive Gus Mackay 10 days ago.'
I bet that was an interesting meeting, the NRL representatives thinking wtf, London is doomed.

It underlines the fact that if a team in London is to ever make progress it cannot be under the ownership of a man who treats it as a `hobby` (yes I know he has wasted millions, but he should have been more savvy) and that proper `professional` management is required; not under the guidance of the current CEO who is totally out of his depth and clueless. The current ownership and management team have to go.
