I hate nobody. I regularly question the sanity of Hughes and I certainly admire the ability of the wage thief, but hate is not in my make up. have to say, for a new poster you're pretty clued up....have we met?

I haven't always lived "abroad'....I used to rock up to London RL games quite a lot as they were an enjoyable experience......I even made the last SL game at the Hive before the drop and then another when we got back up....neither of those games were particularly enjoyable as the matchday experience was pretty much dead in the water by then...........the last of those games was a game v Wakefield where the gate was announced as 1,205.
I can only imagine what fun Trailfinders is now with 1,000 fewer in attendance.....and that is down in equal part to Hughes and the Commercial Monkey...no reason to hate anyone, but hardly endearing either.
I seem to recall paying £14.00 on the gate at Brentford in 2002.....it seems 19 seasons later inflation is not that bad with tickets now on offer for £10.00...that commercial guys a bit of a wiz i reckon

| It has to be said that the match day experience at the moment is “thin”. The major excitement being when the pies come out. I suspect the Wimbledon match day experience will be better but that is predicated by a reasonable amount of fans turning up which looks “challenging”.
Our views on the competence of the LB back room staff may not be totally aligned but clearly they will need to step up somewhat from where they are now to make the project a success. I think you may have described the move in an earlier post as an existential threat. I think that was not unreasonable. We will see. I will give it a spin but trekking South of the river to be presented with no parking or adding £8 or some such to my spend may dampen my enthusiasm.

| Big time as you can see from some posters, nothing the club does is right. £20 for a ticket is wrong its too much. An offer of £10 for a ticket is apparently crazy from the emoji. Am not sure what would please some.
As for the move the Wimbledon like ant move it will suit some, it will not suit others, but that goes for any move anywhere.
As for existential threat! Is staying at ealing any better?
The club is at a pretty low point at the moment, and currently yup a pretty average champ set up. So change is needed, DH is the money, I don't see any other deep pocket investor in the wings so that's hard to change.
Moving to a decent stadium that is acceptable to the RFL has to be a positive step, then buying a squad that can compete has to be the next step! Q is will or more important can DH do that. With a decent stadium and a decent squad you will see more fans

| Big Time. You describe the matchday experience as thin. There is just a game. Just a game. Nothing else.
Look around on matchday. How many kids attend? One or two. There is nothing for them .
As a club, a lot of work is done in schools. This translates to nothing on matchday. Which surely aim of the community work, is to draw people to the club.
The attendance for the Toulouse game was going to be low. It is peak holiday time, no away fans and the likely thrashing we shall receive. Add to that the football season starting. Something needed to be done.
It is fine to offer reduced price tickets, but how do people outside of the London Broncos bubble, find out about this promotion.
I do not know.
I wonder if bringing new fans to a game where we get thrashed, is a good idea anyway.
Perhaps contacting the missing fans and giving them free tickets to attend is worth a thought ?
Interested to see what the gate is with this super promotion.

| NB you make some interesting points. Pricing is less of a concern to me than some posters. My gut feeling is the prices are not unreasonable. I do though agree with those who think the timing and delivery of the new pricing was “ unfortunate”.
I can see the arguments about Ealing being a dead end and a new stadium attracting fans/sponsors but, putting aside the hassle it will be for me personally to go to SW London, it is the disconnect with the general mood music of managed decline I can’t unpick. It looks to me like we have almost no back room admin staff, the squad is thinner in terms of quality and numbers, revenue streams have reduced and we are focussing on bring through home grown products and going to a hybrid model. That is a noble but long/ mid term project. Moving to PL and running 2 training grounds is difficult to marry up with that dissapointing, it perhaps sensible, approach. It might work but, if not, I think it does place a heavy burden on the club.

On the subject of kids, as one of the very few that does bring their son I could not agree more.
On that point whilst I’m hear one of the reasons I registered was to correct a misapprehension that has been circulating on this forum ( I think). Whilst the ( in essence) walk up prices for kids appears counter productive and dumb, there was and remains a child season ticket at £30. That’s £3 a game. For London that seems a good deal to me. The club is getting quite a bit wrong but that seems a small positive and we should acknowledge it
No arguments from me on the comma side/ fan engagement failings. It is most likely partly due to the fact there appear to be no admin staff currently employed so commas and fan engagement and all the other things that push a club forward have gone into hiatus. Perhaps the club is planing to correct this for next season. I’d like to think they are but they have quite a few plates to spin and next season will come around soon.

| They have to sort the parking out for next season, they need to do a deal with some nearby business / school to allow of paid parking. For the three of us it would be a combined 70 pounds on travel to PL, compared to around 5 pound for parking and a couple of quid in Petrol..... If they don't have a parking option, no way we can attend unless they have very cheap tickets (not 25GBP which they are proposing)

| Yes Crash. I agree that seems a sensible option that I hope the club explores. I don’t know South London at all but if it’s the case that there is a complete absence of any roadside parking spaces on a non work day that strikes me as pretty rank. The problem is, of course, exacerbated by the fact that public transport, to all intents and purposes, doesn’t run on Sundays in London.

I’m conscious I didn’t respond to your point on LBs work with schools.
I’ve seen a few things in programmes and it looks like they try and engage but my only experience was when I went to a mid week game and there were a lot of excited school kids in attendance who were mascots. the thing that struck me was that, I think, without exception all were of Asian descent. I don’t know enough about the Ealing area to know if that was atypical but I wonder how fertile ground that is. I don’t recall seeing anyone of Asian descent at any other games so it looks like that work did not land, at least in the short term. It may be for many reason that that ethnic group don’t fancy coming to matches. It may be difficult to unpick and address the reasons short term and I suppose it might be one of the reasons why the management of LB feel a move to another area might be productive.
I, like I guess other posters, have no experience of running a professional sports club but it’s clear there are loads of challenges which perhaps it’s easy for us fans to dismiss/overlook.

| It's good to see the players themselves volunteering to help with The Wimbledon FC club Charity, getting out in the community, we have got to start off in the right way, then carry on! Be interesting to know if there are primary or junior schools in the Wimbledon area involved with London Primary & Junior Schools Rugby League, who give credit are doing an amazing job! The Finals last week were a great example to the game in the north, where school sport is on the decline.

The club should be aiming at marketing, in Sutton, Carshalton, Mitcham and Morden where a lot of the population is working class and they are not too far from Plough Lane.Might even be worth linking up with South West trains and Thameslink for promotions involving tickets and travel.

lol...if it were cardiovascula surgery, I'm sure you'd chime in with some pearl of wisdom.......but you're neither a heart surgeon nor a marketer, so leave discussions about "upping the price before dropping your drawers" to those of us with a Masters Degree in Marketing and a list of satisfied sporting clients.
I'd type in crayon of the option were available....just so you can grasp it, but £10 for a game after you tried to screw your regulars (unsuccessfully) out of hundreds is not going to get the attention of Charles Saatchi......but as usual, apologists gotta do what they do!

| Charging walk ups less or the same as ST/ half STs is not a strategy to be recommended and does feel a bit of a Liberty. Having said that, it does look like the game as a whole, with the exception of Barrow, is struggling to get people through the gates. I noticed that Oldham had a £12 pre book with accompanying child free and that walk ups were £19. I wouldn’t suggest we should look to Oldham for guidance in how to do things but it might be that our practices are not completely out of kilter with others. The truth is the TO game is unattractive to many of us as we are likely to get spanked and so panic price drops might be the only way to encourage a few through the door. Quite why we are in a position to be drubbed by TO at home rather than it be a good competitive game is, of course, a whole different discussion.

The clubs priority in a pandemic should have been to retain ST holders. Putting up prices was a ridiculous decision in the context of that and a potential mid season move.

Well any marketing, like communication would be welcome but this really isn't a class issue any more, even if it ever was. The obvious starting point is AFC fans but unless Broncos have a team that takes the Championship by storm I can't see many new fans sticking with what a lot of us have over the last 40 years. These are different times.

| DC I think there are 3 groups the club need to focus on:
Group A existing/ recent fans including STs.
Group B AFC Wimbledon fans
Group C SouthWest London new fans
Clearly, if this forum is representative of the fan base as a whole there is. Lot to do re Group A.
I’ve heard nothing about Group C- I suspect this is difficult and costly and takes time.
It is Group B the club have focussed on I think. My take is the AFC Wimbledon fan base is pretty engaged. I think they might well be supportive of a project that brings funds to their club. I get the feeling the commercial manager has been driving this aspect forward and it wouldn’t surprise me if a couple of hundred do turn up initially. Whether they stay or pay is a bigger question predicated by the quality of the product. As it stands we have precisely no players signed for next year so that’s a big job in of itself.
All the above needs back room staff to drive it through. I think I’m right in saying that the club basically have just one man, the much discussed commercial manager, so that is something they need to address ASAP and get additional bodies in or the inevitable willl occur. Sigh.

| If they only have the primate in back office, that is a situation of Broncos own making. For years, fans with the skills Broncos need have offered their help only for the Club to rebuff them.
Group A have been marginalised by the club so getting them back will be the hardest task.
Group B is the easiest group to try to hook & assume each AFC season ticket holder will get a free ticket to game 1 as Fulham did in 1980. However, if AFC has a poor season like last year, I can't see why their fans would stick around to watch 2 failing teams. If they have a good season why would they bother as the most committed would have done the AFC away game on the Saturday. At least that was how it was explained to me by both the AFC fans I know.
Group C pretty much haven't come to the Stoop, Brentford or Ealing & not many rugby fans go to watch Rosslyn Park or amateurs Old Wimbledonians or Battersea Ironside. I think Hughes would have to put a Championship winning team together for next season to stand any chance of creating a ripple in the SW London conscience & one capable of staying in SL too.
