Yeah, but I would be very surprised if a coach isn't aware of the contracts his players are on, and has actually said things on record that aren't true.

With Lee Smith returning to Leeds from Wasps, BJB's recall is less likely, and fair play to Leeds and GH for leaving him with us.

When we were slaughtered with injuries last season (11 who had played for the first team out at the same time at the worst point), we didn't recall either Tyrer or Smith from the Crusaders or Scott Moore from Hudds, all of whom were on a year long loan. I got the impression at the time that they couldn't be recalled if they were on a year long loan, unless Leeds (somewhat unprofessionally IMO if the case) put a clause in his contract to say differently?

No chance I suppose that Leeds' "salary cap issues" would mean that they'd have to offload Smith to us for this season?

I've never really liked him, spiteful, sly s*d in my opinion, but he'd certainly be a big improvement in our back line.

The league express says BJB is staying!!! It also says Hughsey is 100% committed and Brian is doing a good job.

I would guess most loan deals would include a clause allowing a club to recall a player under certain circumstances, but clubs like Saints and Rhinos would probably be loathe to do so as it would ultimately screw their own development plans for that player..................I guess it's as much about the player being involved with a lower club in all aspects for a season as much as their on field activities...................fair play to any club who does make loans and sticks to the principle.

Salary cap issues aside, full credit to Leeds in standing by their decision to loan BJB to us for the season. It would be a huge problem for us if they took him back now and on the face of it that would have been the easy decision to make.

I reckon he should be committed after propping this mob up for so long.
