Thank goodness there are literally thousands of fans waiting to queue up outside the gates that a fan can seemingly want paying customers to clear off
Dave, of course this is stretching the point but the fact is you are dismissive and arrogant and heaven help anyone who argues your point. Season ticket holders paying £300 are very much entitled not to be put down every time by someone who has spend little more than me in ticket costs this season
One day you may just understand that there is opinion other than yours
The club cannot to lose ANY fans, let alone to your rants !
I will be at a 5th tier fottball match tomorrow where one team are not even full time and there will be a larger crowd by 1500 people more than there will be at Quins
Do try and protect the fans that the club still has'"
Seriously, would anybody choose not to go to watch a sport they enjoyed simply based upon the ramblings of a keyboard warrior on an Internet Forum? because if that's the case god only knows how the other Super League clubs have any attendance.

Sorry Nigel, the interest has gone for me to be honest. For me personally I need to be all or nothing and unable to go to all I made the decision to do none, my choice and no-one elses but I find that I cannot pick and choose games and retain the same level of enthusiasm
Quote ="wire-quin"No thats speedway and BBQ day

Sadly you are not far off the mark, maybe that is one of the problems being faced. There are lots of choices as to what to do with one's time and for me personally at this time RL is not one of the choices I am prioritising. That is of course my perogative and not one that I should be castigated for.
Bt the way, the speedway BBQ is tomorrow, another 100 or so people and a charitable profit of £400. Not something that makes me feel in the slightest bit guilty to be honest. I will be going straight from AFC Wimbledon si a buy day. Next weekend I am away with my son looking at Universities for hiom for Sept 2010, Stoke yesterday and Leeds next weekend. Again, something that comes miles behind RL in my mind and miles also ahead of watching Oxford United, so again no apology from me
Quote ="Homer"Seriously, would anybody choose not to go to watch a sport they enjoyed simply based upon the ramblings of a keyboard warrior on an Internet Forum? because if that's the case god only knows how the other Super League clubs have any attendance.'"
Of course not, I was using it to make a point but if some of the responses people get causes ONE person to either stop going or choose not to go then its too many. Everyone here deserves to be treated with respect and if you dare to disagree with certain people that is not the case. I don't are what happens on other boards, I would hope that we would rise above it

crikey, you must have some memory. fwiw, i was arguing about the song because it had put off a friend of mine from attending anymore matches, which one would imagine is not something that would generally be aspired to when trying to build the club's fanbase.
now, we see a number of fans' opinions and thoughts about the strategy and the approach that the club appears to be set upon being dismissed repeatedly as somehow invalid because one person simply keeps telling them that they talking nonsense. a blind faith in what's going on isn't going to wash it, attendances have declined, match days have become quite moribund (of course the results don'r help), and a large part of that is to do with the dynamics of where the crowd are able to sit.
we got almost 5,000 average attendance in 2006, we're currently 1,500 down on that figure with one match to go, as I remember it, we need to be averaging gates of ~5,500 to both operate profitably and to satisfy future franchise requirements. There are good signs of british players being developed by the club, the manager is well-regarded by many (although he does have his detractors, as do all in his position), the early part of the season showed us what we can aspire to. But where are the crowds? where is the marketing that we were promised? – the only time I can remember us both receiving correspondence from the club is when s/t’s are up for renewal.
I don’t think the question is can we afford to open both stands, I think the question is whether we can afford not to imo.

Speaking personally, I won't be renewing my season ticket next year. I'm fed-up with the 'East Stand proposition'.
It irritates me that this move has been made just to create a backdrop for games televised by Sky (and possibly also to save money, but I don't buy this argument).
I'd rather listen to BBC Radio London commentaries and watch games on Sky than sit in the East Stand and feel profoundly irritated.
As always, I wish the team well.

I have to agree. This season has been a fiasco from this point of view. I've given up even inviting any friends along as (being a STH) I won't be able to sit with them, and when some friends did come to one game they got rubbish seats in a stand close to capacity and were unimpressed. I've heard similar stories from others.
At least with two thirds of the East Stand being unreserved seats next year this aspect shouldn't be a problem unless you turn up at the last minute, but I still find it odd that the North Stand is only due to open for some games not all of them. This also sends out the message that we're not even aiming to pull more than 4,000 for these games (even though there's the best part of a year to market them and pull in more punters) and makes us look small time.
As someone said on this subject a few months ago, if we're only going to sell a small percentage of the total seats at least make sure we're offering the best seats, which are in the West Stand.

They are probably happy to have a seat when they have near full capacity crowds for every game.

Fans happy to be watching the game - what a surprise. That isn't enough for some of our more picky supporters who demand to sit in another stand as thats obviously miles better.
Pathetic

Thats incredible. How things change
I'm in the GF camp now though, happy to watch the game from wherever, as long as its decent RL, I would be happy watching from the building site that is the South Stand.

Slightly different issue in that they do (ticket availability withstanding) have the choice of where to sit. Quins RL fans have that choice made for them by SKY/BBC/Quins RL (delete as appropriate)
It would be interesting to see a vote as to where fans would prefer to sit. I suspect (and have no data to support it) that the East Stand would NOT win

It is ridiculous - bet some of these people have never been to The Jungle, Belle Vue, Knowsley Road etc.
Perhaps the club should open up the Lexus and charge £500 for a season ticket to cover costs of opening it. I wonder how many takers there would be!

The KC Stadium is better than The Stoop IMO, unless you count ticket price in the decision.

| flipping heck what a roundabout argument!!
RU supporters have the choice! depends how much they want to pay
we dont have any choice
apparently we should be grateful that we get to watch RL from what ever stand
look at the posts on here, the fact we are complaining must say something
Lots of us hate the situation we are in regards the stand that the club have decided to use for whatever reason
What the club have failed to work out is, we are the customer
and its us that pay the bills
saving money by using the worst part of the ground is only succeeding in alienating lots of fans and not bringing in the news ones
how is that improving the situation?
Save money now, just to lose revenue in the future
I hate the east stand and cant understand the reasons behind being over there but hey ho i will still be there next year, and will still moan on here about it

Do you really believe that we contribute anything like what the club gets from Sky? Sky is also a customer just not one that sits in a seat.

I agree with you in that I don't buy this argument one bit (sky or money), I'd like to hear exactly what sky say since we've never actually heard directly from them on the issue, besides I don't see sky only filming the open stand, near on impossible - what do they do only film from one side? No they film from all over the ground! Besides they only film a couple of games a year! Anyway I can't see that anyone but the club would decide where people sit, I'm begining to think it's certainly not sky?
Thing is I can't see why quins are keeping things like this, I don't think it's cost either as it'll only take another 5 or less stewards.
So why? What's to gain from closing the ground? I think the club need to open the Lexus stand again to have any chance of moving on, I fear though this won't happen!
I think now, more then ever the club needs a fans voice or group who can go someway to finding answers to these and increasingly more and more unanswered questions from the club.

| For reasons gone over many times on here, I would much prefer to be in the West stand. I'd pay more for the option, but the club aren't offering that. I think they may be making a mistake there, though without any real understanding of why they've made the decision, I can't be sure.
But the deal that they are offering is IMO great value for money. I had decided that I'd upgrade next season to the seats they're now classing as Silver, but no point in that, I'm going to go for Bronze. I can sit wherever I want in the allocated blocks, move if I don't like anybody nearby (a true boon for a grumpy old anti-social), take someone with me and sit next to them, sit out of the sun by arriving early which I always do, and stay home for the odd evening game on Sky where sun-in-eyes would be a real problem for me. Even at normal prices, Bronze is great value for money, but at geriatric/student special rates it's almost a giveaway.
Now, PLEASE dear management give us a team that's competitive and entertaining.

I'd say:
[1 Lack of crowd numbers for first team fixtures
[2 Lack of action to address this.
[3 Lack of awareness in the local and wider community
[4 Competitiveness of first team (although this wasn't so much of an issue at the beginning of the season). 4 home wins isn't good enough.
