| If you liked the Leeds/Saints "team chats!" last night get to the Army Stadium in Aldershot on Wed at 6pm- Lets get ready to rumble.
There are a couple of Army v Navy games beforehand-Women and also under 21's I think.

| It was the Navy who beat the Army at Aldershot last season. The Army lost two men for the match on the third tackle and had about half their first choice team missing on active duty at the time, though I'm guessing the Navy probably had a few missing for similar reasons.
I'm pretty sure the times listed by Wire_Quin are those that were listed on a thread in the main forum. If you could confirm Micky it would be appreciated as I may well stroll up Queen's Avenue and watch.

| I was under the impression it was a 6pm KO but 7.30 is better in terms of getting home from work etc!
Any word on the Army team?

| 16 - 14 to the Army and a thoroughly enjoyable evenings rugby league. I enjoyed it more than I've enjoyed any Quins RL game for far too long.
Worth noting that according to the proggie many of the Army RL squad are expected to deploy to Afghanistan soon to join the many who are already out there. (There's currently enough RL talent over there to win an internal 'Helmand RU7's' tournament played at Camp Bastion recently.)
The match was preceded by a minutes silence for those who have lost their life on active service since the last match, one lad was specifically mentioned. An Army RL lad who was killed in Afghanistan recently.
Here's hoping those currently there or soon deploying are all available for selection next year.

| Glad you enjoyed the game!
Very competetive and even the ref (who was RFL appointed by the way) was impressed with the standard and we all thought a draw would have been a good result.
But good result for the army
Rest of games went red as well, Vets game was looking to be all one way but Raf pulled a few points back in second half
Ladies! again one way to the army, but if i recall correct Army ladies are unbeaten, Raf did put some points on the board though
Academy game was a very 1 sided affair sadly with a record result for the army
As I said Ref was RFL appointed and refs at a pretty high standard rest of the officials were serving or retired service personel

| The Ref's in previous years have been Super League Refs- Smith did it last year if I remember correctly. Klein did the A V N at Richmond the year before.

Whoever was doing the kicking from hand for the Army had a kick like a mule and the Navy 13 looked a very competent organiser with a good pass.

| The effort put in and goal line defence were probably the stand outs for me. The RAF team looked pretty dead on their feet for the last few minutes, they had given everything.
I'd also throw in the Army no. 5. He seems to have taken over from the lad Oldham signed after they played the Army in the Challenge Cup last season and looked an equally good player. (Oldham must rate that lad, he suffered a devastating injury about 18 mins into his debut but is still on their books and has just started playing again.) The Army full back was useful too.
Good to see Sean Fanning still going strong. I used to watch him play for Prescot Panthers back in the mid 90's and thought he may have finally quit at the end of last season as his role in the Army RL has changed.
All in all a very refreshing evening that reminded me why I fell in love with this sport in the first place and helped rejuvenate my enthusiasm for the sport. Something that had waned in recent weeks given the rubbish served up at Twickenham Stoop recently truth be told.

| Being ex Army and having a natural bias I believe the RAF were the better team. There attack was more structured (mainly through the 13) and defence excellent. They had 70% of the field position in the first half. They did seem to run out of gas in the last 10, but still could have won it.
All in all it was a great spectacle to watch. Strong direct running and tough, resolute defence by both sides
Thought the ref went well.

| I was looking after the RAF interchange, think they were forced in to a couple of changes due to bangs and knocks
MOM was the army fullback, (plays in army union squad as well)
Re the ref last year it was Phil Bentham, bloke that came down for this one had a good game, 1 of the TJ's has a fair bit of experience at NL level as well so there was a fair bit of experience out there.
