Are you allowed to have a sponsors name in your team name in Superleague? A Wire fan who is pretty well informed in RL matters tells me you are not under current rules. If true any sign of an attempt to change that rule would be of interest.

Totally correct there is a rule about team names not able to carry a sponsor's name and that is not a super league rule it is from the Advertising Standards Agency and covers all sports. The only time this does not apply 'I believe ' is if it is a works team where the majority of the team actually work and are paid for working by a company and not for their sporting activities.

If true, it sounds pretty amazing, although they have to be in it for the long long haul I guess, as we dont want to be changing our name again ! The marketing potential through such a household name is immense, and a few cans of the strong stuff before games hopefully will give the boys a bit more zip

Totaly correct you have a valid point, - on the subject of names and sponsors it is more likely to be the London Ovalteenies the way we are playing - the defence yesterday was really poor.

Well given that our on-field employees represent a sizeable chunk of the outgoing wages for Harlequins RL, there is the non-playing staff including office and matchday employees and the could be paid for and working for whatever a possible new company may choose to name itself. If Man City can think they can circumvent rules like these than certainly we should (if it is not Red Bullsh7t) look to do whatever we can to improve ourselves on and off the field.

FC Red Bull Salzburg? NEC Harlequins? dont see the problem.

If this London Red Bulls thing is so certain why has the club just canvassed us to think up alternative names?

How did this rumour actually start? From what I can see someone has just written it on this forum and now we're pretty much 80% sure it's going to happen....am I missing something???
