The reason Melbourne succeeded where London hasn't can be summed up very easily: the Storm have received $100m more than the other NRL clubs over the past 20 years. That's from central funds by the way. And everyone was fine with it. No-one complained, no-one bitched and moaned, no-one called for them to kicked out of the league. Because everyone knew they needed that club and therefore needed to support it.
Now, obviously, SL/RFL don't have $100m to spend on London, but the fact is we have never received a single penny more than the other clubs. The game wants expansion, or most of it does anyway, but doesn't want to incur any costs whatsoever in doing it. And at the same time actively ignores the inbuilt advantages clubs in the heartlands have.
Riverside Red. I think the club had some money from the League to help to the move to The Hive.
Now let us just think how much money and assistance other clubs have had.
Let us have one example. Bradford, which certainly, is not a development area. The money continues to flow into that pit. (Odsal)
