Are the play offs a big money spinner?


Do the fans who have a team in the play offs find the games worth watching?


I'd say no judging by the crowds ...


Wigan v Cas - 8689

Saints v Huds - 6157

Wakefield - Cats - 4008

Leeds v HKR - 11220

26,074 total.

What is the point of the play offs if the fans aren't interested? They clearly are not.


Gutterfax I think the League needs some marketing ideas.

Let's take a leave out of the RU boys and Feb next year start running daily ads in the newspapers for the race to Twickers, er, sorry Old Trafford!!

I would have played all 4 games at a neutral venue...both double headers. MM weekend has shown the RFL what can be achieved, so why not play these first round games at somewhere like Widnes.
The 2 games next week could also be a double header, then the 2 REAL semi-finals the week after played again as a double header.
Why not sell a Play-off ticket? £150 for all 9 games including the GF?£16 a game including old trafford.........
If the RFL were to offer this now for next year, I would suspect that 10,000 tickets would be immediately sold for next year on a standing order basis!
Not sure of the capacity of the halton stadium, but I would imagine it would be full for all games.
As the RFL take the gate revenue for a prize fund, nobody would lose out and games would be played to sell out crowds.

The quality of the games has been dreadful. Last night Wiggy was trying to big up the Wigan game as the best of the weekend. It was dire and only made slightly interesting when Cas scored towards the end.

AGREED!!! All the games were dull, Leeds v HKR had some merit in nice tries by Leeds - otherwise snooze ville.


They bang on about intensity, what intensity? Nerves maybe, but intensity - ha.

I like then extend 8 team format, and maybe it will take the clubs a couple of seasons to get in to the swing of it - but for me it is just not marketed in an exciting fashion. Even SKY sports advertsing of the play offs is almost non existent.


It is time the RFL stopped the mantra " ... the game does the talking/marketing on the pitch / via Stevo and Eddie ... " and actually started to market the game better, as these attendances are poor. If 43,000 can turn up at Wembley for Sarries league match then 26,000 is very poor for four play off games.


RU is now head a shoulders above RL both at club and international level - off the pitch. Murdoch and the SL War has acheived it's goal. Awake the lumbering giant to go professional and slowly strangle the other code. We are now the second class citizen wether we like it or not.
