Not so sure about this one, Wakey have had a great start to the season and must start as favourites whilst we're going into this with another key player missing. although I'm happy with our performances so far I think we've badly missed Mason, Wild and Kirmond who on past performances are key players and then add Drew, Finnigan (not sure if Grix is fit for this week) and we've got a few fairly handy players sidelined. I know we've got the strongest squad we've ever had and I'm not wanting to demean the efforts of anyone who has pulled on the jersey and performed admirably so far but a full strengh team could possibly have seen us unbeaten as yet. Once we get a full strengh squad to choose from Nathan's going to have a real headache picking what he sees as our strongest team and although we're bound to pick up further injuries along the way but given a fair crack of the whip I'm quietly confident we're more than capable of mounting a serious challenge for some silverware this season.

As for Saturday I think Wakey could just shade what should be a cracking encounter

And for us it turned out to be a blessing: an unbeaten season / 2 trophies / promotion followed by 2 years in the play offs , two Challenge Cup Finals and a top 3 finish at the end of normal rounds. Loving it

Its very frustrating when you cannot put your full side out. It has been like that for us for the last two seasons or more, having said that we came a creditable 5th last season, so if you are looking for inspiration look no farther than Wakey, and see if you can aspire to our achievements in adversity

Nice one but I think our aims and are much, much higher than Wakeys achievements with or without injuries.

Could you not read what my post said? Two trophies - albeit in the lower division.

I was gutted when we lost both CC finals and did not win the trophy. But my memory of how I felt when we won our semi finals v Leeds and v Saints is fantastic as is the joy of travelling to Twickenham and Wembley to watch my team. The pride I felt when KD led the guys onto the pitch will live with me forever.

Vastman needs to focus on our relegation and you focus on the lack of CC trophies. So be it. I think it will be a very long time until Wakefield fans see their team in 2 major finals in 4 years.

2 major finals in 4 years also helps with the 2012 franchise application. although i would like Shakie to stay in super league enjoy the nervous times in 2011.

Add to that that the RFL have now said that Toulouse don't have meet he same criteria as the rest of the Championship teams, that Lewis has said that the numbers in Superleague will not be increased and that Crusaders have now got a Stadium meeting the criteria means that 1 or (most likely) 2=#FF0000* teams will have their licences taken off them. (=#FF0000*Otherwise the heartlands championship clubs will be up in arms over broken agreements)

Salford, Cas and Wakie all have stadiums planned but not one of them have a brick in the ground. Wakie are still playing catch-up to the others and I think they are still at the public consultation phase (from reading TRBs SWAG comment) which puts them at the back of the pack.

Unless something drastic happens to an SL club then I cannot see the RFL getting rid of both Wakie and Cas therefore Salford and one other from Wakie and Cas are my expectations to receive their marching orders. If everything is equal between Cas and Wakie what do you go by? Historical success?

i think Wakey know deep down unless they have some form of building going on or win a major trophy they are gone !!

I agree with most of that post, but having only themselves to blame? I'm sure that if it was up to the fans, they'd have a new stadium.

We've got a fair few injuries to key players, we aren't firing on all cylinders yet, previous seasons results and league tables count for nothing and added to that you've had a few good results and a good start to the season, and you are at home.

Thats my reasoning anyway, a cracking tight match and bearing all this in mind, Wakey should be starting as slight favourites but I'm hoping we come home with the bacon, but a rare Wakey win could be on the cards.

Yes Jo I can read perfectly as you well know, but I cant help feeling that you were trying to guild the lily somewhat by including those two trophies you won in the lower leagues. After all I am sure I dont have to remind you that we have not been allowed to take part in those said comps because of the circumstances which I wont dwell on for your benefit



Fwiw it might suprise to know that a lot of Wakey fans were gutted when you lost both finals', and I am sure there will be a lot of Wakey fans would be just as proud as you if we are ever lucky or good enough to get there. This year for us is a good a time as any to win the cc luck prevailing with the draw so dont be putting all your money on the Giants just yet, save a couple of bob for good old Wakey

I am proud we won the two trophies and had an unbeaten league season after relegation. I am not aware of any club doing that for decades. These are facts. Belittle them if you must.

And so you should be proud that your club won two trophies. I merely pointed out that they were won in a lower division and as such were not as prestigious as your post would have us believe. All I am guilty of is trying to put it across to you in a lighthearted way instead of being rude to you. You might think about the replies your going to get before you start using that sharp edged tongue of yours in future, not all visitors' to this board are as polite as me

And in reference to your earlier post about the hull game - yes I believe that had hodgson played, you would have played much better.

Where did I claim they were highly prestigous? I said we won 2 trophies and we did. Also this is a Giants forum so people would have a fair idea what the tophies were for. Try not to make up what I post. Try sticking to your own posts rather than misrepesenting the posts of others.
