huddersfield - got rid off korki for a player who is out of favour with club , fans and team mates.
everyone's a winner'"
As part of the deal BigAl has mentioned Scully is being still paid by Wakie so how you are doing your sums I will never know.
How is Korki out of favour? He was signed as reserve player and has trained the house down to get his chance. He has been consistent for the first team and one hopes he enjoys his loan at wakie.
When Cas offloaded Korki they were that desperate to get out of his contract they were prepared to pay his salary for the first year. We took him on three years on the basis that we would have a year to get him up to our required standard.
I don't know what plans NB has for Scully but I am guessing that if he is going to be first team we may be losing a prop.

| That's one thing I've heard and also seen when I've gone past on Leeds Rd. Korkidas has trained hard and his attitude has been excellent. He's just not quite forced his way into our XVII with the other props we have available.
I hope he goes well for Wakefield, he's probably playing for a contract there as his chances of a game with us aren't great. He should go well, he will probably be the fittest prop they have ATM until Bumper's magic wears off.
As for Scully, well, he's got something to prove and there are certainly questions over attitude and temperament. However he does have some ball skills with his offload and short kicking and if Brown can sort him out and Bumper gets some spare off him he could have something to offer. The jury is out.

Hypothetically speaking that is what I was thinking but it all depends on whether NB uses Sculthorpe as a direct replacement for Korkidas (as cover) for the rest of the season.
ATEOD he is only on loan this season then is out of contract and Korki is still signed to us for three years and on loan to Wakefield for the rest of this year - although the NB quote in the Examiner article implies otherwise.

No sooner do I type that then I get this!
Quote ="Press Release"
Huddersfield Giants and Wakefield Wildcats today announced that they have agreed a swap deal that sees Giants Prop Michael Korkidas join the Wildcats on loan until the end of the season and Wildcats Prop Danny Sculthorpe join the Giants on loan until the end of the season.
Korkidas a former Wakefield player, having joined the Wildcats in 2003 from Sydney Roosters and established himself as a crowd-favourite, making 109 appearances for the club before joining Salford City Reds in 2006.
Giants Head Coach Nathan Brown said:
”We are really pleased for Michael that this opportunity has cropped up for him in first grade as its where its best for him to be playing week in week out. Danny Sculthorpe offers us different traits in the front row to what we have already got and whilst it’s sad to see Korky move on as he is very popular here with everyone it will, I am sure, benefit both clubs and both players.”
Wildcats Head Coach John Kear said “We are delighted that Michael will be returning to the club, he was here when I first joined the club and he was sad to leave back then, so we are delighted to have signed him for the rest of the season and look forward to getting him back into a Wildcats shirt.”
The move takes effect immediately, with both players joining up with their new team-mates and will be available for their club’s next engage Super League fixture.

| There has possibly been some kind of issue with Griff and him being dropped earlier in the season but I'd like to see him stay. He is a big, big unit and when he's on it he can knock them about a bit. Burgess and Ryles have both felt what it's like to get a good whallop from him.

The source was the press release from the club. I try to deal in facts and hold my hand up if I'm wrong about something.
Lets hope for your sake I am wrong about Wakefield.

We have plenty of grunt. We do not have a passing / off loading / kick prop like Scully. It offers some variety and variation. So worth a look.

| I'm not Sculthorpe's biggest fan but i think we've got the better end of the deal in this. Sculthorpe will be the nearest player we'll have to Crabtree i.e unloading the ball in the tackle at every chance. Whether he'll ever be fit enough to play is another matter.

that the best thing about the swap , i think both parties have come off better . just think you will need a Doug clause in the t&c's .

I would agree with you. It's a good swap for both parties and I echo what other people have said and I was expect Scully to take this new chance and train the house down for a chance to play as he needs to prove himself to get a contract next season.
I hope Korki lives up to your expectations of him at Wakie. We've built his fitness back up and he looks more like an SL player again.

At the cup game Wadski will be handing out free leather bound copies of his latest book: "The contracts of Michael Korkidas". The foreword is a moving piece by Terry Matterson entitled - 'Korki the son I wish I'd had'.
Get there early!

Korki came to us on a vastly reduced salary because of his pay out from Cas - in effect they are paying his wages - I just misinterpreted that they were paying his previous contracted salary which was in the public domain at the time (and all over the cas board).
