| foe me Anderson had it spot on- I agree with stone he's not a good enough half for SL- but the skills he does have would make him a good SL fullback.

| Thought the first half was the best I've seen them play this time.Strong first contact, and some strong carries.Second half failed to capitalise.
Broughy needs to have a word with himself, not the referee.
Great to have Symonds back.Class player.Read on here about the knee crocked again but RS didn't mention that after the game, just said being cautious with him after the long lay off.
Mamo is one freak athlete, the way he gets around the pitch.Batted that bomb back, then galloped over to the other edge to get involved in the move that led to the try.
Looks a good organiser and vocal too.Impressive for a 22 year old.
Thought overall the team looked more comfortable on the back of the positional changes from RS.Some decent performances all over the pitch including from the interchange, mainly of course during the first 40.
Tackle bust from Roberts should have been try time. Some eye catching clean breaks and busts from likes of Gaskell & Sebastine. Couldn't quite turn those into points.
Broughy sin bin I said at the time could cost us the game, and so it did, they nearly survived just 2 minutes or so left of the binning.
Decent first 40,just need the same sort of effort during the second stanza, and we could hopefully start getting some wins.My glass half full and all that.

A good assessment sheepridge.Broughies frustrations are becoming a pain in the butt and perhaps it may be the time to play him off the bench he seems to have lost that snap he once had at almost 35 he maybe could benefit playing less minutes.

| Quote ="HD8CK1"Anyone find the ref to absolutely clueless in all aspects of the game? His indecision was clear to see in just about every decision made, let them get away with all aspects of gamesmanship and holding down to slow us down and never gave a pen and I am still wondering whether he got a rule call wrong.
Mid second half I think we kicked in last tackle toward their goal line. One of their lads jumped and caught it and ref gave a 20 yard re-start. However, the defender definitely jumped from field of play into the in goal area to catch it. Isn't that play on? We were about to tackle him I goal for a GLD but instead they broke straight down our end full length of field (and I think they scored but not 100% sure)
Anyone else recall this and know whether I'm right in my view on the refs decision?'"
Spot on there mate. I remember it well, I was having a rant over it at the time. Ref absolutely clueless. I don`t like blaming the ref but I think he definitly cost us that game with the field positions he was gifting to the Catalans. Also the touchy, what a clown, we were directly in line with a Catalans penalty for touch and a perfect view of it`s trajectory over the touchline, but the touchy put his flag up a good 3 metres nearer our line.

We are playing with a squad of 17 players, only 10 of them are average or above, the rest being championship grade. But the same could be said of several other teams, Wakefield being the best example. But they are coached well. We are not. We can't hide from that, they are not improving or learning from mistakes and the man in charge has to take responsibility for that. '"
Not sure what it has got to do with Wakefield but it does help when a coach has better players to coach.
Can't see your comparison really the league tells you who are championship grade and unfortunately for your club once again as of last year it looks like your club are heading for the middle eights, as against the Trin who look to be heading once again for the top eight, not wanting to criticise your coach but might I remind you about Huby, Wood and hitherto our player of the season Scott Grix, anyway from a grateful Wakey fan thank you if not though for the back handed compliment.

| another poor performance, so many errors (1icon_cool.gif . brough costing us again with his gob. his time is up for me at this club.
mamo was a highlight, could be a star for us...need to build around him, then again brough might not like that as its not all about him.
if roberts looked to pass on that great run of his we had a 4 man overlap but he knocked on... we could have gone in at half time 16-6 up, as it is cats scored instead!
walsh once again a thorn in our side.
see mamo wondering where the back up was when taking the ball up????? must wonder what hes come too, love his enthusiasm ..needs to rub off on a few others asap

good shout
brierley and gaskell could be the way to go, be loads of pace with brierley and mamo
whats happened to leeming? no darting runs anymore just passing ! and a penalty machine.

We don't have the game and skills to utilize a player like Brierley, and i think R Stone knows it. We made some very good individual breaks in the game last night, none of which turned into a try, Roberts made a great break that resulted in a try at the other end for the Dragons, we are just a bunch of individuals who do their own thing, some better than others.
Offloading and support play are a foregn concept at the Giants and have been for many years, the only recent exception being Browns early reign. We had a 60% completion rate Endless knockon's most of them on the 1/2nd tackle , penalties aplenty, a player who got himself in the bin, and we have fans who think we lost because of the ref. We can't play even basic rugby, and It's the ref's fault.

You seem to have had a downer on wardle, now on Hinchcliffe -seems you don't like grafters. well I'd rather have 10 hinchcliffes than 10 mamos it doesn't matter how many points we score we still have to score MORE than the opposition. If we had 10 players capable of defending like Hinchcliffe we wouldn't be losing so many games. .

yes stone alluded to the fact they are playing as individuals and doing their own thing to force the issue instead of managing a game
they just arent learning or dont want to do it enough ..thats what stone said lastnight anyway ..they dont want to do it enough to make the change

our attack was worse with brierley....the worst i have ever seen was against leigh away...this prompted the move from full back for gaskell and the dropping of brierley. the poster asked why brierley wasnt playing...so that maybe the reason why.
other post was replying to another poster about moving brough to hooker...for that to happen yes brierley would come back in and get another chance with gaskell... which they have combined once against castleford..i didnt make that game so cant say much about how it went. brierley and gaskell is different to brierley and brough at halfback.
said my piece on wardle, get over it
yep hinchcliffe is a grafter and can tackle, bit like lawrence and we do need those in the team but for the salary he will be on could we do better? i think so.
mamo impressed lastnight, i know you would like him to fail as you didnt like us signing him but hey ho
hope thats cleared thing up for you abit but no doubt you will come back with more argumentative drivel

I see your still peddling the myth about Shakesfield squire, the only connection is we both have the same landlord, the difference is we get first dibs where as you and the terriers, well the least said about that the better.
The only thing I read about the giants on here is your excuses when you lose and tbh you seem to be making a habit of it the last couple of years quite amusing really

That's the exact point I'm making, and it is a compliment to your coach. Huby looked unfit and useless for us under 2 different coaches last year, wood got 15 mins here and there behind the likes of Jamie Ellis and Hinchcliffe and was clearly not fancied much, Grix was underrated particularly for his organisation and brain. Now all of a sudden all 3 are doing a great job at Wakey.
We don't have the best squad of players, but it is better than our league position and the way that they keep playing. But they are only better than this if they are coached, organised and set up to do so.

If the terrific Terriers win promotion to the PL you'll deffo be playing second fiddle to them at their stadium, you never know you might end up sharing with Sheffield at Bellevue on a few occasions, wouldn't that be something remembering the good, sorry bad old days when Shuddersfield were first formed

just to be clear on the shares at the stadium
40% football
40% council
20% giants
so yes we do play second fiddle to the football club at times. football is king in this country anyway. even wigan play second fiddle to their stadium partners.
where are shakefield playing next season?? not answered that one my bet would be dewsbury but then again you could end up with trips to coventry

It matters little what day of the week you play Catalans they will bring zero fans, as you say it's a busy Easter and the Terrific Terriers would be expecting a bumper crowd against Preston as against yourselves who would only have the home fans what had not got anything planned for the weekend.
So what we have is you having to play second fiddle to the main tenants of the ground once again, and luckily for you having to play Wednesday gave you two extra days off to prepare for Monday, as for losing no revenue are you saying that playing on a Wednesday night as against playing good Friday means you will not lose revenue, and you say were not very bright down our way, your spin on the situation borders on the desperation but if it helps keep on believing it, love the insults btw
