tbf i'd say all posters on here rate him. Just some think him being the most error prone player in the comp - by a fair margin - needs urgent action..while others don't mind.

| Perhaps they should e-mail the club and let someone know Eden needs to cut out errors- perhaps they aren't aware he makes them

Or maybe they feel that his positives outweigh the negatives ( i would guess the coach thinks that), or that the best way to improve is to keep playing at the highest level, or that they feel there is no point in just criticising, or etc etc.
You do have a very concrete way of thinking. It must be so easy living in cripesginger world everything is just black and white without any shades of grey.

| What is a little odd is that when Lunt went. Thewlis said announcements on other players futures would be made over the following week or so. I assumed Fairbank (announced a couple of days later) and Eden. Makes me wonder if things have gone as smoothly as we hope.

Spare me your personal cod analysis. It is dreary. the irony of you criticising someone for living in a black and white world will be lost on you
Now-
- show me where i have said the negatives outweigh the positives
- show me where i suggested that he not be played
- show me where i said the coach should just criticise a player
I will have a long wait
Back to reality. after playing RL all his life, being with us 6 months and playing around 20 games GE should be bringing his error rate down. A large proportion of those errors are happining in our 20M / 30M on 1st to 3rd tackles. this is very costly. there is little evidence that what the coaches have done so far re errors is working.
If GE can cut his errors to closer to 1 per game and have some of them further up field he will play for England - jeez I am so critical

Spot on Durham......Eden does make mistakes that is expected, he's a young rawboned lad still learning the game - the only way he will properly learn is by being on the field and in pressure situations.
He can make 10 mistakes a game for me if it makes him a 100% better player in the future, he is exciting to watch with ball in hand and that is something i know i personally love to see when i go to the games.
We cant just keep dropping players because they make too many mistakes - every player does it, Greg's are more noticable because of the position he plays.
Lets enjoy watching this lad play while we've got him here !!.

| You will probably find the more a player is involved the more his average error rate will go up? Eden is excellent with ball in hand, yes some mistakes but no more than some highly paid players (some of which hardly play!). Give him time he will improve the more he plays & learns from gameday reviews , mistakes & quality coaching.
If we offer eden a fair contract he willl probably sign, offER him the current money he could earn lots more in the national leagues.
Young players, unproven players and local lads get offered the lowest contracts- wonder if some of the older players will move on and let the others earn a good salary too?

You may wish to expect errors I hope NB and the coaches are not so complacent. Nor is the 'only way to learn' as you have indicated, any part time coach knows that.
i have stated that some people do not bother about his errors...you would be comfortable with 10, oh dear. Lets hope all our players make 10 errors versus salford, that way we will all learn
GE errors are more noticable because he makes more than any other player in SL and he makes many of them in our own 20/30M
Lets hope he will drastically cut his errors so we can enjoy watching him all the more.

You are wrong. GE makes more errors than anyone in SL. There are many SL players who have far more involvement in the game yet all make fewer errors. HTH

| True point, but playing fullback is hard work regardless of age or experience. To me my pal paul reilly was our best recent fb, but he made mistakes as did hodgson, thorman, devere, hanger, lawerence, wally gibson the list goes on...Yes they went high and eden spilt the ball, turning point?
Others can help him and perhaps we need to get of his back and look at the 3//4s who defend lost space?

turning point at hull kr too...
lets face it, hes a great talent just need to cut down on the errors which will hopefully come in time...if hes still doing them next season then hes not learning.
errors for the giants so far this season -
eden - 33
brown - 15
mcgillvary/robbo/brough - 11
crabtree commented on the super league show on monday night 'eden goes from the top dog to the dog house'

| TBF I agree with Cripesginger, he does need to work hard on his error rate, at the moment it's a balance between doing something amazing to doing something basic wrong. He needs to cut the errors down to make his a good player into a world class player, and have a chance of removing ST from full back.
Yes as NB said there wasn't much between ST and GE in terms of what he did well, but I don't remember ST making basic errors. Time yet for GE to fix but he needs to cut the errors down, I'll give him some slack as it's his first season, and he's been a real find, but he needs to improve in this area tenfold to be at the level we all want to see him.

| I agree that cutting his errors is something we need to do but to hear some people basically saying we shouldn't play him because of that is ridiculous.
He, hopefully, will have this coached out of him and like has been said if he's still doing it in 12 months then it could be a problem.

| Honestly fOlks we are over analysing this way too much.
I go to the galpharm to support the giants and enjoy watching exciting rugby.
Eden is exciting and is a wonderful natural talent whether he makes errors or not. I for one , look forward to watching him over the next few seasons and think watching him play rl is worthy of the season ticket alone.
A special talent and one we should be proud of wearing the claret and gold. Think some of us on here are doing way too much theorising, amateur pundits and naval gazing. Enjoy his talent. Enjoy watching his talent , smile , get a life and thank goodness he is a giant . Just see the big picture.

sorry forgot we cant criticise grix can we...but the stats back up that his tackling is poor...very hard worker and great under the high ball too on the plus side for him
missed tackles for giants this season-
grix - 28
Cudjoe - 20
robinson - 19
cudjoe hasnt been performing well so far this season but is one of my fave players, as an international he should be producing more at the moment than he is

| For me this a simple choice of where you want to be as a Giants fan.
Right now we have a team of very promising young lads drafted together from our own Academy, mixed with others released by other clubs for whatever reason that NB has developed in to genuine SL talent. Add to that a good sprinkle of true overseas talent, a squad that has good/adequate cover for most positions in the event of injury/loss of form, and players represented in both England teams (with more unlucky not to be selected or not to be selected at a higher level). We have a great platform for the future and with half the season gone are now recognised as a true top 4 side that is still challenging for all trophies. Life is pretty damn good right now. For Pete's sake we all know that we have seen the club in much much worse predicaments not that long ago.
So back to Eden. I would sign this guy today on a long term contract. Yes he makes mistakes - but boy is he exciting to watch and he does offer a genuine threat in attack whilst in the main doing a very good job at returning the ball. He does need to work on his mistakes, and I also think that he has done better previously in his organisation of the defence - BUT his potential is fantastic and he will only get better by playing.
For me Eden would be one of the first names on the teamsheet every week!!!
For all you doubters - similar concerns have been expresssed on this forum for other players that are now regular first teamers. Leroy for example showed great promise early on, got exposed defensively sometimes, went through the steep learning curve by being pitted against far more experienced opposition players - but look at him now!!!
Eden needs the same development track - and I for one am happy to watch this happen (mistakes and all) in eager anticipation of him fully reaching his potential. I dream of the day we finally win at Wembley with someone like Eden having a stormer and named as MOM. KEEP THE FAITH!!!

Who are all these doubters? The main issue here is some posters think around 33 errors - the worst in SL - needs significant attention while others think it far less important.
I hope eden's development track is better than Leroy's. ATM I would select Murph over Cudjoe.
