| The thing from my POV that I find interesting in this is that we don't actually need Aaron Murphy. He probably woudn't get in to our starting XVII ahead of Cudjoe or Wardle. You have Bruno who can play centre, Gilly too.
Raleigh isn't getting the game time he wants. Kirmond the same. Both these players are good players who would get into most sides and certainly all of them from 8th downwards, easy. IMO if we were to get Murphy and they were to sign Kirmond and Raleigh they'd be getting the better deal by a good way. Two starters, significantly strengthening them up front for a bench warmer? I'd not be too quick to whine about this prospect if I were a Wakey fan.

| There is no need for us to get Murphy or pay a transfer fee I agree he gives us nothing we already haven't got.... I have heard a whisper that Wigan have talked cash plus a player for Griffin who they have long fancied who would you take if it was to be true Fielden ??

| I'm not sure what I did wrong here - I'd be happy to have any personal insults I made pointed out, so I know what to avoid in future.
Back on topic - Danril, in some ways, I think WTW fans are perhaps more hacked off with the perception that you can raid our young players at will, rather than the specifics of Murphy himself. He's a cracking lad, has been loyal to WTW through some tough times and in a largely beaten side, has acquitted himself very well.
As it happens, much like Luke George, I can't see who he'll displace at your place to get regular 1st team rugby.

| Do you really think we care what WTW fans think its a dog eat dog world...
For instance Wire taking Brett Hodgson off us, when we were relegated Saints getting Martin Gleeson for nothing worth £150,000 at least, Bradford taking Chris Bridge before he went to Wire he was in our academy at the time so it happens to us all..... Chris Thorman when he was good going to Harlequins again for nothing....
If a player wants to go you can't stop him.... and Catalans came after your players too however in the real world these days clubs are tipped off by agents about players who want to move..... it then depends if that club wants them.... what about Hull with Sam Obst ?? Bradford with Southernwood my point is don't just throw stones at us cos we are far from the only ones who have done it....

There's an argument to had there - if a player is under contract, you very much *can* stop him if you want to, by enforcing the terms of his contract of employment.
I, for one, hope we do that by advising your people that if they want him, they can have him on our terms, otherwise he's a WTW player next season.
I'm sure you'd want your club officials to act in the best interest of your club? That's what we want too, and there's a strong argument to say that exchanging one of our stand-out young players for 3 of your cast-offs, at least one of whom we most definitely don't need, is not good business.

| the article about murphy says he has turned a contract down with wakey, i thought he had another year to run or has he, was it sorted early season that his current contract is void at the end of this year, for me he would be a good signing from where im standing we only have 2 centres in leroy and wardle, more i see of bruno less i think hes a centre too slow in my book, as for the 3 players supposedly out, kirmond and raleigh need to go for me, would try and keep wood though.

would also like to see kirmond stay, that injury was bad,i just think he needs more game time hes much better than furgason imo,if he stays and nb plays him i think he will be the player that was before his injury.

So you reckon making a player stay when he doesn't want to is good for the player and the club and the player will give his all and not upset the team- give over!

That's one school of thought and I'm not totally convinced that it's wrong on all counts.
However, if the default approach is to release a player as soon as he gets itchy feet, what's the point of a contract? As for what's 'good for the player' - that's irrelevant in this situation, surely? The club should do what's good for the club - we're not running benevolent societies here.
From a WTW perspective, the general view is that historically, we've capitulated when other clubs came knocking, because we were always strapped for cash; the hope now is that we're less strapped for cash, so we'll demand better terms from any club approaching us for a player who is still in contract - I certainly hope that proves to be the case.

| Do you like who you work for? Do you still go into work and do the best you can? Of course you do, they pay you after all. All this talk of someone not giving it all for a club because they want to leave it garbage. There is probably only one or two incidents of this in the last 5 years!
They are Professional Sportsmen after all - why make themselves unemployable?

| ATEOTD there's nothing to say that Wakey aren't offering us Murphy. After all, we don't need him. He's apparently under contract so we wouldn't be able to make an offer without permission if that is the case. They could certainly use Kirmond and Raleigh, who would both be certain starters there, whereas Murphy would be warming the bench at best with us as things stand. We could be doing Wakey a favour again.
