I think he did that with Grix at Catalans and the run out at Saints was with that in mind, it's a tricky balancing act and its easier to "rest" a youngster than an experienced pro as they will take it better in the main and can play Under 19s or are happy to turn out for Oldham. Again it comes back to reserve teams which if run properly keep everyone match fit and slotting someone in for the odd game that suits their style is far easier to do and the game will become much more squad based but I won't hold my breath when the money to set that up goes instead recruiting Aussie has beens.

I think today's performance by Simpson so far explains why Anderson didn't play him the last two games. He is showing his inexperience in attack and defence and it's being exploited by a poor Wakefield side.
Flat game, flat atmosphere. We are playing at their level and pace..... It so bugs me that we do that.

Never mind jools after to day you will be able to play at a much quicker pace against all the 8s contenders. lets see how you frame then.

Cudjo was as good as anyone today, he put himself about a bit , which is more than most did.

That was one miserable game to watch, second half especially from Giants point of view, One bit of magic from Brough, One sublime pass from Tai ( which Murphy dropped ) and a whole load of really poor defending.

Agree with all that except I thought leatherbarrow was ok- showed his inexperience at times, but we've had a lot worse this season- and Bailey off the pace - looked like he hadn't played for a long time.

Agree about the dropping to their level, we were discussing how the top teams would hammer that bunch no problem whereas we seem to not want to be too harsh and play at a level that suits them, we were awful and never mind 2nd geear i don't think the ignition was even turned on today, we did enough to win but we made a very, very poor side look half decent!!.

Nice to see the Wakey fans carrying on their reputation too !!!

Any way onto the proper games now .....

Simpson made a couple of errors. Mainly the dropped ball and wakeys 1st try.
Positives were that every kick off went to him and he took every one of them. Also he made a great one on one tackle near the end causing them to spill the ball.

The game itself. Poor but got the two points. Hopefully we are doing it on purpose and not peaking too soon.

I would have liked to see Leeming get more game time today. Robbo went well but I think today was a great opportunity to give Leeming big minutes.

Broughy showed his quality with his try and the tapping the badge to the fans was a nice touch.

Roll on the super 8s.

strange game, we were never in danger of losing the game but yet never looked like doing a number on them, at 28-12 they were lambs to the slaughter, yet we do as we do a lot, retreat into our shells and invite the opposition to come at us, which, to be fair to wakey they made a fist of it in the 2nd half, but we weren't even half ar$ed today.
disappointing for me as i think we need to show more of a ruthless streak, when we have teams on the rack, the top teams usually do it but we seem incapable of it, like Daz says, it's almost like we are too nice and don't want to hurt the opposition etc

we got the win, but the effort seemed to be lacking today, almost as if it was decided we don't need much effort to beat wakefield..need to improve or the better teams will crucify us if we turn that out in the super 8's.

thought the ref was poor, he seemed to be off the pace a bit and i thought he made some poor calls and seemed to be hesitant in making decisions, but he is inexperienced and still learning the ropes so i'll go easy on him.

as for the wakefield idiots, it's not the first time they've embarrassed themselves is it? they seem to have some real numpties following them!

Simpson was caught with ball in hand today far too many times.
He didn't organise the defence at the beginning of the second half and we were all over the place defensively for wakeys second in that half. Can't fault his effort but his inexperience showed. Yes he made that tackle but missed others. Leeming on the other hand looked very comfortable and I agree should have been given more game time.

He knocked from a high kick and knocked on in possession and caused another by throwing a dreadful pass.
Poor attempted tackle for first Wakey try and shocking attempted clearance for last Wakey try.
He did make a great tackle near the end but fully expect to see Grix back for the playoffs.
