I think most Wire fans will have Brett in their best 17. We are a bit fortunate that Ratchford and Riley can give him a week off when TS sees fit and when missing earlier on this year O'Brien filled the goal kicking boots very nicely. If Ratchford nails the no1 jersey, he must be learning all the time from him.

Many believe that he was instrumental in the 'Myler try' at Wembley. Apart from his attacking prowess I'm sure you all appreciate his positional play when fielding kicks, he continues to make the game look easy.

His new deal with us is all about squad balance and we don't see it as a gamble at all

Never mind Brett H your best signing by a country mile is Andy Gatcliffe. The way he keeps your squad under the cap puts the whole of SL to shame. No other CEO can touch him!

We are very lucky indeed to have Simon Moran. Its not just the players that he has invested in, but rather he has brought a very sound business-like approach to everything the club does. Having watched Wire from the late 60's and seen only sporadic success, it makes a pleasant change to see a professionally run club that is winning trophies ( and beating Wigan and Saints regularly !) Having said that, to imply that we are breaking the salary cap without providing the slightest justification does you no credit.

From what I understand, BH moved to Wire primarily because he wanted a 2yr deal. We took the chance, you didn't wish to. Both decisions are perfectly understandable, and lady luck could have made a mockery of both. Thats life. Move on.

Warrington, like any other club will have to pay market rates for players. So how exactly are you suggesting 'Andy Gatcliffe keeps the squad under the cap' ?

Don't worry mate, what he probably means is that we manage to get people to come to our matches, whilst actually paying full price for admission, which then means we can legitimately pay up to the maximum cap, unlike at Huddersfield, where they literally have to bribe folk to turn up, leaving old Ken to subsidise them massively with the money he made from the flatcap factory he created....

cripesginger knows enough. And they have a point about the Warrington squad's ratio of star players in the squad too, regardless of your tier 1 and tier 2 chatter. There are plenty of big names in that squad, it's the strongest in the league IMHO.

To be fair to Charlie Winslade, he perhaps reacted to your praise as if it was slightly less than genuine when offered.

It is often a slur, not usually so thinly veiled from our 'nearest and dearest' in particular, that we do well to have such a robust business model and operate a decent squad under the Cap.

anyone who suggests Brett Hodgson isn't an essential player for Warrington doesn't know what they are talking about. His goal kicking alone makes him an automatic selection...add to that his amazing passing and decision making..and he has to be up there as one of the best Aussies ever to play in the UK.

Absolutely and we got him over here and then after two years let him slip through our fingers. Gutted, someone dropped a big one make no mistake, but those are the breaks. Hopefully we can produce another gem from either down under or better still from our own backyard soon enough.

Out of interest, because I'm often curious of people's perception of Wire.....Who do you consider can be classed as big names, or the big earners at the club?

I do get the impression that whoever Wire sign, they are immediately classed as a big name, and will be on big or, at least, a significant salary, thus the constant insinuation that goes around that Wire must be breaking the cap.

Of course, its all guesswork, but I'm certain that many outsiders are massively over-estimating what some of the Wire squad actually earn, but it would be interesting to hear some views from those not supporting Wire.
