| Go Thorman, please for God's sake go. He is the last remnant of a failed, dysfunctional coaching set up, starting with Paul Anderson and continued by two Australian comedians.
Is there any wonder we have the worst gate in Super League with this style of 'five drives and a kick rugby' on display? Some players looking as though they aren't allowed to handle the ball- Rugby League is not rocket science. Something is to be said of the previous coaching set ups when some players that have been with the club 10 years, still can't pass the ball properly.
From top to bottom there needs to be a major overhaul of the club, and quick! We need a new broom with a sharp set of loppers to get rid of the dead wood- and there's plenty to go at.

I do hope not. Woodford has a similar track record to stone- and that didn’t work out too well.
A different approach is surely needed by the club.

| You need an experienced coach that can bring in some discipline and sort out the woeful recruitment policy.
Signing failures from the Bulls and other clubs has got you where you are.
I'm not sure what this Aussie has done to be any more suitable than Thorman.

Correct jools and the second of those would be preferable but it doesn't look like happening anytime soon,
Does anyone know offhand how many coaches we have had in the Super league era, just as a matter of interest.

| The question was Superleague era, and it was Schofield who was coach during our first season.
I can’t remember much before Alex Murphy. Was it Nigel Stephenson then Barry Seabourne? Maurice Bamford was coach for a while when I was very little.
After Murphy I remember Brendan Finn, who I think died of a heart attack, but I’m not sure he was the first team coach. Then George Fairbairn who was coach in that first season in the new stadium, Darrell van de Velde, and Steve Ferres. Then onto Schoey and the list above.
All from memory - I might get round to looking it up.

No he doesn't.
Woolford has 3 or 4 years of coaching a country side and a couple of years of NRL reserve grade.
Stone had been very successful in the Qld cup, NSW cup, been assistant coach to Brian Smith, Michael Hagan and Wayne Bennett, coached Fiji to a top 4 finish in the WC, as well as 2 stints as an NRL coach.
Woolford has literally a tenth of Stone's resume.

Murphy was the boss. I doubt he'd have had it any other way
Terry Flanagan is a remarkable man. A hell of a life story to him. One of those types who gets things done.

stone did ok at the giants, when all said and done he came in and saved us from the drop in his first half season then first full season got us in the top 8.
this season didnt start well and he paid for it but look at us since he has gone!! worse.
woolford has the same kind of task as stone, save us from the drop and improve again next season... we shall wait and see

| Rick Stone achieved everything he was asked to as head coach of the giants, to stave off relegation in his 1st year then make the top 8 in his 2nd. He did both so anyone saying he did a bad job is wrong.

| Stone had us playing a predictable and unexciting brand of Rugby, uninspiring perhaps but in the main competitive. Thorman has been hopeless, an absolutely disastrous spell in charge, showing Stone was not quite so bad, there was at least a structured approach under his tenure. The decision to allow several games under Thorman really has placed the club in jeopardy. The new coach has a real challenge due to that awful decision.

| There’s are only 4 bits of comment I want to read at the minute as it is clear we are in a huge mess.
The current players are unlikely to get us out of this as
A/ they are not good enough (too many to name)
B/ they are injured / injury prone ( Jerry / Leroy)
C/ too old or have the wrong attitude. (Brough)
D/ they are not interested and see relegation as a way of getting a gig at another club( any with ambition)
.SO THE ONLY NEWS THAT INTERESTS ME ATM IS
1/ NEW COACH who / when do they get here.
2/ which players are leaving
3/ which players are joining us with the new coach. a Prop with a heart and half back with a brain and back with pace and ball handling would be priorities.
4/ Ken selling up
5/ Thewlis retiring to take up fishing .

| And the only thing worth noting on Wikipedia about his coaching is the fact he smashed a coaching booth and was suspended. Doesn’t fill me with hope.
Still I suppose he’s got nothing to lose. But I’m not sure he’s what we need.
Problem is we won’t know until it’s too late. We don’t have the luxury of time.
He’s got a massive mess to unpick, and no track record of doing so successfully.
He has no experience of the game in the UKand I bet also has very little knowledge of us as a team or our players. Poor bloke.
I just hope he doesn’t have us trying to play that boring Aussie style of play and realises that just will not work.
I feel we’ve hit a new low this year -he needs a massive spade to dig us out of a very big hole. We will have to see whether he can do it.
