| Child showed everything that's wrong with RL today, he could not have tried harder to gift Wigan a try. Penalty count was horrendous against the Giants and they did nothing different to what Wigan were doing. Wigan were offside majority of match, also gave 2 knock ons where the ball hit the tacklers arm as wrapping the player up. Thought this was play on nowadays? He then gave penalty to Wigan where Mcillorum was clearly holding Chan's shirt preventing him getting off, chan was trying to break the hold seen week in week out and it kicked off, first punch thrown by Farrell? I think but they still get the penalty. Don't mind if a ref makes errors cos its everyday life, I have said before refs are not clean as they should be and today does nothing to change these thoughts. 2 weeks on trot now with Hicks last week and Childs today. Today stuck 2 fingers up to dodgy decisions and reffing. The Giants defence was awesome and refused to be done!

Have you ever thought about taking your blinkers off? That is as one sided a post as I have seen.

Got to agree, it was funny how he suddenly decided in the last 10 mins as Wigan were camped on our line that he was gonna start penalising the things he'd gladly let go for the whole of the game !..........I actually said to my mate when we were holding on that we were gonna intercept and go the length of the field to seal it

FFS I was identifying some of the areas that were shocking decisions, course I am biased towards Huddersfield but rather than claim I am blinkered maybe mention some of the things that should have gone Wigans way that didnt, I take it you feel all I have listed were correct decisions then?

| The defence was appalling in the first 20 minutes i thought we were going to be on the wrong end of a 6 try hammering but after that it sure did change.
The spirit in the camp was superb and i do not think i have seen that spirit in a Giants side for a long time.
I have to give some big raps to Murphy today. At least 3 superb man and ball tackles that stopped an overlap and probable try although the defence from the whole team was excellent.
I realy did not think we would keep them out and in the last 10 minutes was expecting them to score and bring it down to drop goals to finish it off.

BOTH sides defended superbly. I think we (Wigan) should have been a little more patient in that last 15 minutes. Both your wingers made really good try saving decisions either by getting to the centre or just knocking the ball down. All in a superb game of rugby between two well matched sides.

| Awesome defence, lets not get hung up about Child and the standard of reffing. Like DG I was very concerned at 10-0 we defended poorly and gave the ball away too cheaply, but boy did we turn it up after that.
You could see the difference Lunt and Eorl make when they came on, more power and guile and gradually we got back into it. The last 10 minutes of the first half you could see physically what we were doing to Wigan, they were almost out on their feet.
Second half was much the same, we started to dominate possession and once we got our noses in front we inched away from them, in a right arm wrestle.
The last 6-7 minute where immense, in fact it gave me so much pleasure to see the way we defended, time and time again , wave after wave we rebound their efforts on our line.
The cherry on the cake was the last minute try, what a really good win that is.
PS. despite O'Loughlin trying his upmost to take Lunt out, a few cheap shots, and late tackles on him but we prevailed - they clearly see him as the danger man.
On a downside that we really need to sort is the kicking, twice Danny was almost caught and ended in us handing over in an area where Wigan could attack, instead of from their own 20.
ATEOTD it's just 2 points, and we're only in Feb, but a good confidence builder.

Kicking does not need sorting out. It is ok. The reason was that Wigan were on him as soon as he got the ball, but the player hounding Broughy was always out of the blocks early and at least a metre and a half offside at the play the ball which the ref chose to ignore.
He did get plenty away though and they were very good positionally.

| Child was poor but got decisions wrong for both sides. The worst ones I saw we're
The ball strip that led to their first try that was clearly dropped
The penalty for dragging into touch when it was the force of the tackle that caused it
The call that Faiumu was not square on our line when he made a perfectly good tackle.

He almost lost the ball twice on a similar play, I'm not convinced they were offside, neither did the ref and maybe Danny should be back a yard or so back to avoid this.
One of the cases Grix had to try and recover and he ended up kicking straight out of touch, which gave the ball back to Wigan in our own half, we do need to sort that out.

| The fact there is room for loads of improvement in attack is encouraging as I would be worried if we had hit top form already how they would maintain it for the season

| Thought your defence was very good, was sure we were going to score points in the last 10mins but we looked a bit lightweight and predictable, still good defence though, as for Childs he just sums up the problem in our game the same six refs have gone backwards over the last 2- 3 years useless without the screen, with the screen pass everything upstairs, no competition and the standard is dropping fast.

| first 5 minutes we put some big hits in then seemed to drop off, a 5-10 minute spell when they scored we looked very shaky, not to mention knackered. after that though our defence was amazing and how they didn't score still amazes me, like has been said 3 or 4 times we shot out of the line and hammered man and ball and we had to as they usually had an overlap.
as for child, awful, simply awful. he chose to completely ignore wigan standing offside and laying on yet then decides to penalise us, and to be fair, wigan shortly afterwards with what were innocous offences.then in the last 10 minutes he decides he will penalise every minor offence he could think off to allow wigan chances to score, thankfully our defence stood firm though. just to even it up i did think we got a couple of decisions go for us,especially the one where jerry seemed to take their man out.
but saying that no matter how poor the officials were, our defence was truly outstanding today!

| DEE-FENCE, DEE-FENCE, DEE-FENCE
Awesome final few minutes - last 3/4 of game defence was very, very good. As said above game hinged on Eorl and Lunty taking the field after a dodgy first quarter. Wigan are a very good outfit so to keep them scoreless for as long as we did was immense.
So proud of the team today - far from a perfect performance - but 110% commitment, passion, and determination shown by all in C&G.

| Your defence was superb at the end.
I was slightly disappointed with our attack not asking enough questions of you, but I don't think you missed a single tackle in that whole passage of play.

| Can't wait to see the defensive stats for this game. I doubt there will be any other team this year able to keep Wigan from scoring for the final 60 minutes of a game.

| A few years ago we were known for our defense but yesterday was at another level. I read on a match report somewhere last night that in the last 67 tackles we had the ball once. That is one hell of an effort which I can't wait to see Phil Clarke elaborate on against his beloved Wigan on SKY later in the week.

| Wow, the effort our lads put in today....outstanding!
I brought two new potential fans with our group today and thought we was going to be on the wrong end of a hammering. However the lads kept their heads up and tightened up defense! Some massive one on one efforts and the forwards working hard in the middle!
They found a way to win and Mr broughs conversions were spot on at very tight angles.
As for attack could be better but we played against a brilliant defensive side that wire only managed to score 17 against so let's not get on the lads to much about that!

| In particular I thought our edge defence was the best it has been in a long time, Murphy should be keeping his spot on that performance.
Excellent effort from all the team yesterday, but still plenty of improvement to come; as we did make it very difficult for ourselves.

| whoever has been coaching the defence this season tale a bow..back to the old giants but even better
childs is garbage but always is for us as is hicks, had the worst two last few weeks and both times been on the wrong end of the penalty count.
murphy should get a run of games now, deserves it, never lets us down.
oloughlin is a dirty player, amount of times he goes in late and high, robinson main target.
thought robinson was outshone again today by brough but thats almost always going to happen.

| The day after , and on reflection, think most positive was mental strength.
10 nil down after 10 minutes, but no panic, kept to game plan , and fought back into game play by play. To me that shows the belief the players have in themselves in each other, the systems and the coach.
Also, Wigan played near perfect rugby - just 1 knock on? , and we made 4 or 5 errors in their red zone, so me thinks their still loads of potential in this team.
Couple that with no overseas marquee signings playing, and got to feel positive about the next few months.
(ps wonder which Nrl club Nathan will be linked to this wee?)

| got to say i really enjoyed that match, thought BOTH sides defence was awesome, we were superb for that last 10 but so were wigan for long spells too, that to me is what super league should be all about a fantastic game with two great teams, i know its early days but im already starting to eat my words on baloo, i didnt think he was the right man for the job, but on the evidence so far he certainly is.
