having just sen the highlights on Sky, i cannot see how Cummings did not award that try by Jerry. Commentators were suggesting that it was due to Huddersfield being offside at the scrum but even then they were saying they could only guess that is what the decision was.

This was not seen by the ref or the TJ and from the video angles on the replay you cannot see any offside.

Cummings on his regular jollie sto France again seems to have robbed us.


It will be interesting to see what the fans who went and the players say about it.

Like you , watch it a few times now and cannot suss out whyit was disallowed.

Hey if you where robbed, Cas must have been shanghied when they had 2 chaulked off against Leeds and Leeds had several awarded on the back of forward passes.

Don't know if news has reached Yorkshire yet but the rules were changed a few years back so that when there are two or more players tackling/touching the attacking player (eg Cudjoe and Brown) and the ball is stolen then it is a penalty.

Watch the incident again and its a clear as day penalty to Catalans.

Why was McGilvery try chalked off, firstly if Brown stole the ball it was clearly 1-1, secondly as Terry o'Conner said it went backwards by about 10 foot!!!! Thirdly Robbo picked up cleanly and passed BACKWARDS to his winger who scored without going near touch. WTF was it disallowed. How come they are allowed to have a video ref every game (Cummings at that who was a sh*te ref at best). Would love him to come out and explain why it was disallowed as no indication to the fans why.
Catalans form team at moment but should have been 2 points in the bag for us. GUTTED and awaiting explanation of why chalked off.

How would the fans have seen it any better from the other side of the pitch?

I asked jerry on twitter and he says it was disallowed for a 2-1 ball steal.

have watched it again and from the camera behind the goal you can see that Leroy still had hold of Baile when Brown tackled him. From the other angles i thought Leroy had let go of Baile. So correct decision methinks.

apart from the Jerry disallowed try it seems difficult from the highlights programme to see what went wrong.

Commentators mentiopned that it was quiote warm so that may have affected the team BUT we had a very athletic pack and our fitness has been very god.

There were a few indavidual mistakes both Bruno and LOD knocked on and Broughs kick going out on the full but nothing else was obvious.

We did not seem to move up in defence as quick as we have done in the past could have been the fatigue and the difficulty in dealing with a big Cats pack.

Commentators said that we coped better when Eorl and Griff were on rather than Horne and Raleigh, so maybe we took a bit of a battering in the first 20 and struggled to get back in.

Catalans are a better team than Crusaders so it would seem the performance was not as bad as that one but i really fancied us to win this one

Whatever it is, it was a poor easter when we were all expecting a good one with our large squad which allowed for rotation andf keeping players fresh

I think Nathan Brown pointed out in his post match interview we made something like 20 mistakes, if you give an inform team like Catalans that much ball your always going to struggle. That being said, from the highlights show Catalans look a completely different outfit to the one I watched at Cardiff.

ATEOTD we are only appraoching the mid-way point of the season, it's at this point where we need to start showing improvement, as although we have played well upto this point in certain games I don't feel we have played to our potential yet. So at this point i'm not too worried, and I certainly don't think we have peaked too early as some opposition posters have suggested.

I have just walked through the door after getting home from the game, and in all fairness we did not deserve anything ouut off that game, they wanted it alot more, we could have gone for 2 points on a couple of occasions, and Brough could have done 3 drop goals in the last 8 mins, we could have won the game but we did not look bothered. Very poor performance. also the sooner we get mason back the better. Simpson was also very poor again.

Regarding going for two points, do you think this comes from a lack of respect for some teams by the Giants? i.e. When we played Warrington at home and Leeds away we went for 2 points when we got the opportunities, however don't seem to have at Catalans in what has turned out to be our tightest game of the season so far.

i was worried when i saw the starting props of raleigh and horne

Was a strange move Horne in the front row and then Patrick, Griffin and Crabtree on the bench. Don't think we are missing Fa'alogo too much as we hardly get chance to see much of him before he gets injured and we have plenty of options in the second row.

We should have gone for 2 when we had the chance, i agree yes we do not show teams the respect they deserve, against a big team like the Catalans you have to take these chances.

As for simpson he was poor and a few games in the reserves would be good for him to get some form. Grix played well, the best in my opinion. They deserved the win, it would have been unfair if we had won IMO

There seems to be a common agreement on here that Catalan wanted it more and it has been stated that it would have been an injustice had we won. The reason behind this thread is an understanding to S Cummings decision to disallow the try.
It was stated earlier that in this part of the world we had not heard that a 2 on 1 ball steal was not allowed and this was the reason the try was disallowed. Now correct me if I'm wrong, anybody who has taped it, but didn't the game restart with a scrum? Whereas a 2 on 1 ball steal should result in a penalty.
So I'm still confused about the decision

To be fair I think Cummings is far more qualified to decide on whether a try is given or not.

as a neutral,I was sat almost on the halfway line a had a decent view of the game - TBH I thought Mr Thaler made some shocking decisions,especially against the Catalans - there semed to be a couple of blatant 'clothes lines' on the Cats players that should have been yellow carded,I felt the ref didn't do the home side any favours.
Regarding the game it was fairly even though I feel Brough was disappointing along with Brown in some of their passing options and there seemed to be little 'spark' - the plain fact to me is that the Catalans, weakened by some big names missing defended well against an attack lacking ideas and the finishing capability.Brough had a couple of good drop opportunties but made a mess of them both in the final minutes.
Catalans showed real guts to earn their victory so full credit to them.
I spoke to Scott Grix after the game and said that they were really surprised at the strength & comittment of the Catalans - seems a fair assessment from a great player

a good turnout from Huddersfield fans but where did you all go after the game ? The city centre was empty !
