good we got an increase dissappointing it was not higher. But the number of games we had on Sky afected us a lot.
the other upside is that the increase in Huddersfield fans as we had a lot less away fans coming this season.

Yep, says in the Examiner this morning that the number of away fans fell by 25% this year.

| It would be interesting to know if our gate revenue was better than last season. I can't see us finding that out though.

| i doubt the gate revenue will be higher with the cheap season tickets counting for a big % of the Giants supporters increase. Those who would have been paying ie the away fans are down. I would have thought though that there was big increase in other income due to merchandising, food and booze, the CC run and prize money and being 3rd in SL is a nic elittle earner.
I would imagine when they post profits next year we will find out whether the club is growing finacially.

| ATEOTD there were some big offers last season and they haven't been this season. You replace, for example, the Catalan game that was free admission and remove it from the crowd average and replace with this seasons Catalan attendance and this has a big impact on the average gate. Replace the Leeds and Bradford fixtures, both of which had big offers, and see what the crowd average is then.

You obviously cannot read the 4th post down or are not bright enough to understand it.
Assuming that in our previous crowds say away fans accounted for 15% of the crowd. A reduction of 25% in away fans would mean that we put on nearly 500 Giants fans on an 8000 crowd. That would give us a rise in Giants fans of 7.1 % over the season. the second best in SL
We are building up Giants fans and that has worked. Not relying on away fans who do not travel to the Galpharm anymore because it is no longer a guaranteed two points and that we had a LOT of games moved for SKY.

Getting to the CC Final certainly wont have done us any harm but may make it a bit harder to discern whether we really are growing financially. We'd have to look at more than this years and last years figures to really get a feel.

Attempted trolling - poor effort.
This year no freebie versus Catalans + more televised games + every other W Yorks club posting a fall. It is actually very positive.

But counter that with your most successful year for quite a few - the challenge cup run and a very good league position would suggest that you actually haven't managed to attract that many new suppporters (or glory hunters etc...)
I am merely wondering what will happen now that your season tickets are back to more market levels for next year.

And our gates are up when virtually all others are down. And we have had more sky games (this hits us harder than many clubs as we have to move the day and time of our games).
Sorry if understanding all the figures does not fit your trolling thesis, but there you go.
Your final comment illustrates your ignorance. First there is not a single 'market rate' for STs. An absurd comment. Second you seem to have no idea what our prices are in 2010..is a £60 or £95 ST what you mean by 'market rate'. Somehow I doubt it.
You have got to laugh. Now someone finds fault with us because our rising crowds are not rising quick enough. Yet clubs with falling gates are not visited by this guy

| Everybody seems to forget that we have two extra teams in the league. It pushes the average attendance down further because the attendance against those teams (celtic and salford) are below our average!
So to have an increased figure on last year is great!

Spot on, now we need someone with magic calculator to work out what the average gates are excluding Celtic and Salford.

| without the celtic and salford games our average would be 8,948!
there are a few factors which hasn't helped our crowds, mainly friday nights etc
hull kr 6,346
castleford 6,010
were both friday night games played in apalling conditions, a regular sunday afternoon game would have seen 7,500 minimum for both games
bradford 7,982 friday night in poor conditions, with no more than 1000 away fans, normally bradford would bring at least 2,000 supporters if that was on a sunday,so i reckon we could have potentially pulled in 9,000 for that
also we've had 6 homes games that weren't played on our normal game time of 3pm sundays, how many other clubs can say this?
but, the biggest thing for me is that we finished the regular season above 11 other teamsregardless of how many season tickets we "gave away"

Thanks Meast well that's a good increase from 7820 to 8948 coupled with the lower away following (c25%) compared to the previous season then we have seen a heathy improvement.
I also recall many opposition clubs fans commenting on the fact we have taken far greater numbers than previous seasons too.
We're massive
