Quote ="Steve May"I remember that game. I’d been at Uni for a few weeks and I had a feeling something interesting was on so I planned on visiting home to watch it.
Then I persuaded myself that it would be an 80 point bore, and didn’t bother. Thereby missing the chance to see a world record being set.
I’d have been really annoyed if Greg Austin had scored ten - it’s only ever happened four times! He scored nine.
Bonus points if you can list the four players who’ve scored ten or more tries in a match...'"
I know three of them, Shaun Edwards (10) for Wigan (v Swinton IIRC), Martin Offiah (10) for Wigan (v Leeds) and George West (11 - the record holder) for Hull KR (v Brookland Rovers). West also held the record for points in a match (he also kicked 10 goals in the same game) prior to Chris Thorman breaking it for York v Northumbria Uni.
