| It's not all doom and gloom!! I reckon you'll beat Wakefield at home next week! We were 16-0 up against them with 5 mins to go in the first half last week, it should have been 22-0 if BJB could of grounded that ball. The difference was they score either side of halftime and along with a chase suicide ball the took the lead with a interception. Then we took control again! Where as Leigh let us go 22-0 up which was always going to be massive to come back from. We are strong at home and haven't lost in 3 months there. Your strong at home as Hull KR found out! Just pipping you. I'm gunna put a bet on a Leigh win!

Don't buy into this nonsense at all!
Anyone who thinks Moore is better than McShane, Tupou is better than Collis, and a journeyman who couldn't crack the "rah rah" game is better than Chris Riley needs to give their head a serious wobble!!!

| What utter trash from the Salford fan. On balance wakefield made a few errors in that last 10-15 mins to give up the lead and let Salford off the hook. The scale was very much in Salford favour early on and then on wakefields side till some dumb play and mistakes effectively let Salford take the spoils. Still needed to be won though ofcourse.
Typical one eyed fans view there talking about try's either side of half time? What's your point exactly? They still needed to be scored whatever time. That's like me saying, well Salford scored one very early on. Complete non comment there. Also fact is many points in rugby are scored off the back of penalties or mistakes and Salford capitalised on wakefields late on to win the game. I believe the points that sealed the game for Salford came from field position created by a penalty. So don't pay attention to the Salford fan. Can't be bothered to check name.
Anyway on to this match
Looking forward to this one. Think it will be a good game. I doubt it will be as easy as the Bulls game too.
It's true there are player movements in wakefield (like Salford) but it's been one in one out and majority of which well before the qualifiers. Brian smith got a broken wakey team. He's patched it up and made some changes to fix it within the rules of the sport.
Gutted I can't make it to leigh but I'm trying to Atleast finish work early so I can catch on sky!
As a wakey fan I won't be taking leigh lightly. You finished top of your league and can play some rugby. The major change is we are now starting to look more organised and the mentality and application of players has been built on since smith took the reigns with small improvements here and there.

I don't think a salary cap has anything to do with a team becoming more organised
Oh and we are spending the same now as we were in May, which isn't up to the cap as you have probably already seen as it has been publically stated many times.
Id say its more to do with the appointment of Brian Smith at the club.

Your right had BJB scored it would of been 22 0 but he didnt score due a good tackle and been put into touch.in fact had our centre passed to his winger with 8 mins to go you would of lost the game end of so wakey arnt that bad yes you was better team by far in first half but not the second

Its been a very long time since team sport had a level playing field. Name me one other sport that funds lower tier teams the same amount as the premier teams.

Correct, it's not - so it's very hard to compete. Although, I didn't hear many people saying this when you were lifting the Championship league leaders shield a few weeks ago - some very positive posts instead about your chances of promotion.
I said at the time (and got slated) that Leigh's defence was suspect against good teams and hasn't been tested enough this year, it's proved the case in the first 2 games, and it looks like Wakefield are starting to improve. But as stated elsewhere, you are more than capable of beating all the Championship teams to get you in the mix, then it's all down to a one off game, which Leigh have a good recent record.

Dumdest point in a generally dumb thread.
Where on earth does it state that there is a level playing field. What are you suggesting, that the bottom 4 SL teams go part time and shed half their players - get real.
As for the general argument regarding recruitment, Wakefield can sign who they want when the want finances permitting. That said the squad is pretty much the same in terms os cost and quality as it was at the start of the season. However the new players seem to suit our needs far more. When a coach like Brian Smith joins you he's bound to make changes or are you denying him that option?
If it's any consolation our defence is still a little fragile and as yet we have not managed the full 80 minutes. Also you've played and beaten us once so you know the drill - anyones game still IMHO.
BUT NO EXCUSES PLEASE.

| Alot of emphasis seems to be on salary cap, but forgetting Wakey are/were operating on the lowest budget in Super League by quite a bit. Wakey even offloaded some of the higher earners, and replaced them with players who are either on loan or probably on less than their predecessors. So I dare say are now on an even lower salary budget than earlier in the season. Pretty weak argument in my opinion.

Not all Championship sides are part -time.. And who said anything about knocking SL salary cap down. Both Bradford and London were given parachute payments for being relegated and still remain full-time. You speak totally from a SL perspective and obviously suffering from tunnel vision.
If the roles change next season,I'm pretty sure you'll be asking the same questions.
You will get no excuses from me.As Saturday will definitely be a level playing field.

I think it was JGR who stated in another thread that Salford were 300k under the salary cap with their offloading..Thats still 550k above our salary cap.Yes pretty weak argument indeed.

| At the beginning of this season SL's elite played the NRL elite, Saints got hammered as they were not used to playing at such intensity against better players. I am sure that after a season in the NRL they would not lose by the same margin and the younger players would be greatly improved
We are in that transition, and if we can beat the champ clubs will be better prepared for the one off game to decide promotion

Well I stated Salford for a couple of reasons..One of which you have one in your ranks included in your salary cap. As for something being well publicized as some say to your current income/expenditure.Do you have a link to prove what your saying..

Did you state Salford because of their somewhat frivolous owner who openly states he doesn't really care too much for the salary cap? Taken from an interview with Michael Carter in the YEP earlier in the year: "This year was always in my mind one of staying in Super League. If we can achieve this, then next year through our debt reduction and increase in TV money, we would have an extra £175k to invest in the first team. This would bring us to just £50k short of the current salary cap limit."
Not sure how accurate this is, but going by that, we are operating at £225k less than the current salary cap. Although this interview was in May, and we have since offloaded some higher earners. Granted the Championship has less to play with, but the point is you're up against a team running with the smallest budget in the League you are competing for a place in. Fair enough we now have Locke from Salford, but if rumors are to be believed he's not on a massive wedge, and apparently offered to play for peanuts just to get some game time to prepare himself for a return to the NRL.
