My very 1st thoughts were that he was faking an injury! And if he wasn't then he got his just deserts for cheating and probably stopping a certain try! Wouldn't surprise me if there is bugger all wrong with him tho!

Rubbish yes it was a foul Maguire pullin back the jersey of the pieplayer it someting we see week in week out but to suggest he was fienting injury is rubbish he was out on his feet
after 80 mins of fast paced RL and you can see from the replays he got injured trying to stop Wigan scoring foul or no foul i dam well wish the Centurions had someone 10%
as good as Danny Maguire, that was RL how it should be played fast n furious with no quater

Anyone think Tompkins holding the defenders arm with the ball carrying arm to twice get a penalty is in the spirit of how the game should be played? According to commentators these are not the 1st times he has done it.

Tackled players ' clamping ' a defenders arm happens in every game from amateur to SL , it is up to the ' tackler ' to move with the player with the ball until the ref tells him to release him , the player clamping the arm is risking giving away a penalty

Pulling back a player without the ball should be a penalty try

The two offences are completely different

Tackling a player without the ball cannot be a penalty try for the simple reason that the player may have dropped the pass or the pass may have been forward.

I do agree to a point about the tackler has more responsibility to not find themselves in position where the tackled player can take advantage by clamping the arm etc. But its one of those annoying things that happen in RL, like when a ball is ripped out or lost control in a 2 man tackle for example - there is no way the ref knows for sure and he may as well flip a coin for which way it goes.

Oh and for what it's worth the ref bottled it by not sending tomkins off for kicking out if not at the very least for ten mins!

Think Sinfield didn't try very hard to remove his arm to be honest, after what was put in the paper about Tomkins,thought he could try and get a couple of pens especially the second one,but i'm biased with not feeling any love for Leeds

The Sheffield player may have knocked on in the same way as the Wigan player.
