From what I can gather/hear its the old gentleman's handshake gone wrong. Aspinwall will sign for Leigh if Hull don't offer him a new contract, it seems Leigh got a bit ahead of themselves.

Featherstone fans report Sam Barlow has been signed by Salford but next season will be playing for Leigh on DC. One of their fans tells me PR and Penky have brokered the DC arrangement.

Barllow is a cracking player but a grade A bellend. I don't know how I feel about this at the minute if it's true I can honestly say I never imagined cheering on that short fused idiot

If he has signed, you would think he'd get a start for the reds most weeks, cos he might be a tool as the poster above suggests, but he's a lot better than most of their forwards!!

I wasn't thinking about Barlow Frank. Because I haven't seen Fax as much as you have I don't really know who Sam Barlow is. I was thinking more about Aspinwall. McRae is at Hull now isn't he? I will take you up on your kind offer of help so consider yourself press ganged for the 5th of Oct.

Well no denial from the club, which means there must be an element of truth in the hull statement. I thought this board of directors would have learned about making premature signings anouncements. Nothing changes!

A few people getting ahead of themselves it seems. By the sounds of it we enquired about Godwin and then Salford still want Barlow after he turned them down last time. Salford have put together a very tempting offer but Sam still wants to stay at Fax and they still have the luxury of been in the position where they dont need the money, although i guess we do need a hooker.

On Aspinwall maybe he has had a better offer, afterall you cant blame the guys for trying to get the best deals they can.

I do wish the club would make some sort of statement.

Suppose it would read on the lines of Martin Aspinwall is a Leigh player next season unless he receives a new contract offer from Hull FC which is acceptable to him. Martin does want to come to Leigh but understandably that will depend on how attractive any such offer from Hull FC is.

The club made the announcement as it appeared no contract offer would be made by Hull FC next season.

Looks like the Hull club directors read their fans message board also.

By the way things have gone in't past with championship club contracts they seem to be as useful as a chocolate fireguard at times as regards to SL club get out clauses.

Tell Basil to do one.......we want him playing for us next season, he`s a different class.

I would imagine that the easiest way for a Championship club to sign a SL standard player is to offer a clause that allows the player to leave if they get an offer from a SL club. After all, it lessens the risk to the player and also shows that the club has got the best interests of the player at heart.

Its a sad state of affairs, but this is what happens when you allow a league structure to develop like the one we have. There is no point in a player signing for a championship club with the carrot of 'if we gain promotion you'll get a bumper contract or you can leave', as this has been wrecked by the RFL. Things will not change until the RLF see sense and reinstate P and R!

Quite right and' if you talk to the vast majority of RL supporters of whichever club you'll be surprised that invariably they agree on this issue.

We then have the very small group of pro licenscing people who say oh we can't go back to the yoyo system again.

What in effect they mean is you can never be as good as Salford' Broncos 'Cas Widnes etc so why don't you stop watching Championship rugby as it is a waste of time supporting a club who can't get any better than the rest of the clubs going nowhere.

Can't understand why Basils bothering, he is about as welcome at Cas as Herpes in a Swingers club. I am sure Martin knows that Basil will be lucky to see April out.
