So if a car loses control and plows into a group of fans crossing the road in between parked cars on the side streets approaching the ground wouldn't look bad on the club ?
Its a friendly - a meaningless game that gave the lads a run out, and fans a chance to see the new uns. The game gets re arranged or a refund given. Its really not the end of the world is it? Disappointing yes but thats it.

It always baffles me why clubs sell tickets for Friendlies, it is a waste of time & money even when games aren't called off. It isn't as if the crowd limit is in peril.

If ten people (which is a small percentage of the crowd) fall and need an ambulance that leaves little or no cover for the ground and possibly even the Leigh area. The post about the car ploughing into a group of fans could happen after the driving antics I have witnessed in the last week. I think err on the side of caution is the right decision. We need as many Leythers as possible in the ground and would be a right bummer for anyone to be in plaster over the crimbo break. Gutted but even more excited for the other matches.

years ago, a game being 'on' was down to the pitch being playable, and the 'terracing/steps' being ok. Now, it's nearby roads & car parks !!
The 'local councils' are a lot more safety concious these days aren't they ?

Thank God we've never entertained the idea of playing RL in winter. Can you imagine the catastrophic chaos that would have been caused in December and January, especially twenty year ago when winters were much worse than they are today? And just like twenty years ago, today's society has no idea how to "take care" on the ice. We must never ever play rugby in winter.

Instruction on a skid pan should be mandatory in the driving test.

Up until this week, I'd have been in the 'don't be so soft, it's only a bit icy get on with it' group, but having seen my Sister-in-laws partner who's fractured his eye socket in four places as the result of a fall on the ice, at the time of the decision it was the correct one.

That would the be the same ambulance that can't get out the hospital as the roads havn't been gritted by these councils who make decisions based on 'safety'

Well I must say I must be one of the only ones that is actually pleased that the game was called off as I have been in bed for the last two days with a terrible sickness bug and was in no fit state to go to the game and I thought I was going to lose my ticket.

As for some of the comments on here about the decision, well to be honest they are unbelievable!!!

The safety officer decided that it was not safe to go ahead and thats that, I can understand why that decision was made.

I will have to finish early on the Tuesday to get back in time for the game but at least I get to see it now

Anybody who thinks it wasn't the right decision needs their head checking. Of course all of us are gutted the game was off as we have all waited for so long but the roads aren't in the best of health and the decision was rightly made to call the game off to protect everyone, at least the clubs have made a good effort and communicating and getting the game back on at a later date, unlike Saints and Wigan.

To be honest seeing the weather that we, d had all week knowing the possibilty of it being called off, I dont know why we hadnt already spoke to Salford as to when a reply would be if the game didnt go ahead. It had already been stated there was to be an inspection at 10 o clock so why didnt we sorted it so we could have annouced sorry the games off but were playing it .........

If any of the other two get called off, cant see them being rearranged as the first NRC game is the week after the Wigan game.

the rearranged game was only sorted an hour after the original KO should have been,so thats one of the quickest rearrangements Ive ever seen, hindsight is a great gift (summat santa doesn't bring unfortunately).
The weather forecast was a thaw on Sat night sun morning but it didn't happen, it was just the opposite.
Plus as tennants we have to be guided by the owners of the stadium so all in all it was done quite quickly.

correct decision taken, and at least the game gets to go ahead later, unlike the saints / wigan game.

81/2 was bad - anybody remember the game v Widnes?. Also remember being sent home from school 2/3 times because of the snow.
