| Quote ="never a dull moment"Our team players,coaches,fans just excellent today.
Attacked and defended together.Forwards dominated but we had backs joining in clearing the lines.
We let them in for one just before ht but punished the error they made from the kick off.No contest 2nd half.
Confidence is growing and so long as the team stick together we must be in contention.
We sat in new stand.Great view.Thought we wuz at west ham with 15 to go.
Only gripe.Flute song is embarrassing.Surely we can do better than that.'"
Obviously everyone has their own opinion to the song, i think it improves the atmosphere 10fold when being sung, and i think most Leythers do sing it, the Flute Song will ALWAYS be a terrace song at Leigh, theres no point trying to get rid of if, as soon as those first 4 notes are shouted, atleast 80% are either singing it out loud or singing it in their head because they are worried what people might think which is ridiculous really, i know i havent stopped singing it in my head since i aerrived at work 4hours ago . | People look far too deeply into the song. It's sang loudly and passionately and gets the players going. There was about 200-300 Leythers singing it in full voice during the game today.

| I personally don't mind it but can see where the embarrasing factor comes in if you are there with young kids, but just ask the journo's what song was being sang in the dressing rooms at full time.
This thread hasn't been 'done' for a while either.

| It has nothing to do with leyth or rugby league.I have no idea were it came from.It sounds pathetic. Noting to do with pc its just crap. Most dont sing it.Them that starts it should put their limited brain power to something else breathing out perhaps.

| I just think that it's a song that has been sang for years by us leythers and we don't need to over analise it , it makes no sense really if you over analise it but at the end of the day it's just a song!!! Let's just enjoy the day and look forward to more rugby like we were lucky enough to have seen today !!!! I am so proud to be a leyther !!!!!

| The club is starting to move forward both on and off the pitch. The team today were fantastic.
It's about time the 'flute song' was resigned to history. The Leigh supporters were immense today but this song lets them down. The fans are better than this and should move on with something better. For those who think it's great maybe they should try sitting at other parts of the ground and see how it comes across to other supporters often with young children. Leigh is now starting to be seen as a progressive club, the 'flute song' is one of the few things that still shows the club in a bad light IMO.

| Just to keep the children and the RFL happy we'll get rid of The Flute Song, change a few other 'embarrassing' but well known songs, how about 'You Obese Person' or 'The referees an idiot' 'Its nice to know you're here- now toodle pip!' when kids hear it they know its wrong, it doesnt mean they are going to burst into The Flute Song at a Christmas dinner at their Grandmas. Its actually a boring topic really, its gonna get sung no matter what anybody says, it helps with atmosphere which in turn helps the players.

| Every now and again we have a thread about the flute song and someone will post how it is embarrassing if they are listening to it with kids as though they will be scarred for life. Bollo.
I was at the Miners when our lads won the reserve team Championship and after the game the players spontaneously sang it loud and clear and with a passion.
Sticks and stones springs to mind.
For those who are offended stop wearing your Burkas and realise that swearing is a part of life in schoolyards, in pubs and even on television Swearing is not going to stop just because about 500 Leythers sing the flute song. It is not something an IRA activist would worry about if they heard it.
Lighten up.
That should annoy some. Sorry in advance.

If I was stood in the middle of you I would have booed you. The song is a disgrace and you are a disgrace for advocating a song that has no room on the terraces of our great club. It goes hand in hand with yob culture and should be stamped out. You should be ashamed of yourself.

Why, exactly? Because of one expletive directed at an old rival and old enemy? Which is it that's so offensive?

| I will say this for the last time. This song IS offensive and has absolutely nothing to do with our sport or our great club. I would go as far as to say that it puts our club in a bad light. Drink fueled rubbish is all it is.

Yes, it's offensive to a terrorist group and Wiggin rugby. Sounds reet to me.
Anyroad, let's not let it detract from the original topic; what an awesome performance by the 17 lads on the field in Leigh tops, and the several hundred on the terraces. Epic.

| When the 'flute song' is sung it is heard by opposing team supporters and officials, neutral supporters and RFL officials and when on we are on TV by viewers. It shows the club in a bad light as is offensive to many, we want to attract new supporters not put them off.

| Reasd what I have put. That is the answer to your question. The expletive is and the fact that it is directed at another team is offensive and the fact the whole song has nothing to do with RL. Why dont you just sing " f@@k wigan rugby" to another tune and forget the rest of the words because thats all your really saying. The song's pathetic and the argument for it is pathetic. Oh and the people who sing it are also.

| I love being a Leigh fan sometimes. A huge, tonking win at a title rival, a fantastic atmosphere, huge support and, in case I haven't mentioned it, a tonking win, and still people moan about the bloody flute song! It's been sung for as long as I can remember, just live with it or sing summat else over the top of it!
