A long slog up Mount Pleasant's slope would kill Bongser but might put minutes in Blake's legs. However, Batley are no pushovers on their own midden, so who would sacrifice a forward on the bench?

Nisbet did okay when played out of position and will surely be champing at the snaffle were mid-match reshuffles needed. Big call for Lammy though.

I’m trusting the fact that he has not appeared, is Lam doing his job and putting the best 17 on the field, and not just putting names on the sheet that look good. I am chomping at the bit to see him play but he has to be ready and worthy of the shirt on the day, and not given it on his reputation as a player. That said I expect him to have a big impact very shortly.

Let’s give him a chance we have benefited from other senior imports. No point him playing until he has fitness. His big match experience could be valuable at the business end of the season.

Not sure I have ever seen a former Aussie international in the Leigh Cherry and Whites. I like it a lot.

At the time of his signing I wasn’t convinced it was a position we needed more numbers with Having Brand , Inu ,Dixon and Hitchcox, however he is here now and you don’t bring someone in from the other side of the world over and don’t play him, unless it’s for mis behaving.
As long as he’s kept on the straight and narrow there isn’t a winger in this league who can lace his boots and that goes for a a few SL wingers as well .
As far as Ex Internationals go earliest I can remember is Ian Schubert with more recent ones being Tonga and Stewart

Ok, so my memory is not great. The point I was making is that Leigh have had a series of middling wingers since the days of Des Drummond and Phil Fox. There have have been notable veterans like Barry Lager, players on the way up Liam Kay, and plenty on the way down. Last season we had what I though was going to be excellent wingers in Matty Russell (6 Appearances) and Lewis Tierney (10 Appearances), sadly proved wrong. Wingers have always seemed to be an after thought at Leigh over the last 40 years.

Currently we have Inu and Ferguson and I am ultra impressed at the quality they bring to the team. They are reliable finishers, quick and strong, and don't mind doing the dirty stuff.

Leigh were starting to gel as team and now we have a 6ft 3in speedster as the cherry on top of the cake.

Agree totally regarding the wingers , Liam Kay being the the best we have had for a long time, considering he was brought in as a half back (I think) was a masterstroke from Rowley playing him on the flank.
We have a few players now who can go length of the field, this with a very dominant pack should keep us in good stead come playoff time

We have 4 very good wingers now IMHO

Blake will be a Centurion till 2024 !

I can’t argue with any of the signing so far.
(Am I understanding right that the marquee rule is only applied to / exempt from the cap, and not a way to sign an extra overseas player above the 7).

Marquee signings appear to be capped at £150,000, there is no mention about an extra overseas slot.

I just realised that the Ferguson announcement was released by Rocky Beaumont (Twitter) (way to go - on the professional front Leigh).

Great news for the club and the fans. Derek probably wanted the news out there ASAP. No worries about that for me.
