Why would you put out an official announcement. Someone else could come in and offer him more than Leigh did or even 'persuade' him not to sign. Either way you can chose whether to believe me or not.

I would assume the coach would discuss these things with his gaffer if only as a sounding board or to rubber stamp. Most clubs have someone above the coach these days eg Sheen at Salford, that person may say it's your call mate but it's your head if it goes wrong . I like the discussion route as its unified and most folk have a boss wven the chancellor

Reading the on-line Australian media, it sounds like Hayne has really been 'putting himself about' to get a gig for next season. Very few NRL teams seem to have room for him on the 'cap' so it looks like a career move to RU in Australia may be on the cards.

Like Maurice says, the fact (if it is one!) that we have tried to get the guy, is a serious statement of intent by our owner, to leave no stone unturned, in the quest for SL.

That would come at a cost of having to play 2 seasons in 1 to fulfil his pocket..First part of his season would be an Australian RU team followed by the 2nd part being in Japan.He knows he could get more playing in France than the two put together.And also NRL knows that.

Given the earning potential of Jarryd Hayne over the next 4 years ( his final contract ) in whatever sport he chooses , I'd suggest the sticking point to an 8 game contract could have been an insurance policy to cover him for a potential career ending injury , which could have made it financially unviable
