If there wasnt a ' Community Group ' then no issue, but there is, if sombody was to say that they were laying down a foundation for work done in the community it would similarily cause confusion with the Leigh Centurions Community Foundation ( which isnt actually a ' Group ' as such )

After reading this thread on here yesterday afternoon a long conversation was held between myself and our Chairman John Roddy and this issue was at the forefront of my mind.

John is of the same opinion as me and we agreed that as Chairman it would be best that he contact Brain and in the first instance find out if there is a problem and then if so how we resolve it.

I haven't known Brian as long on a personal level but have gotten to know him and his wife and so have my mum and dad and Brians wife has known my Grandmother over 70 years so I now look forward to seeing them home and away and we consider them family friends.

Brian is due to dine with us in a box on Sunday as a club guest and is a honoury life member and I'm not prepared to lose him and will do anything possible to resolve this situation.

I've had a couple of very emotional one to one conversations with Brian since getting involved and he has been an inspiration to me as a 36yo lad attempting to follow in his legendary footsteps and I know he gets to read some of these pages so if you do read this Brian please understand you are loved and needed at Leigh Centurions and we want you with as always. This is your club and always will be.

The Leigh Community Group is a fund raising group. They ran Braiden's day last week but were helped by, The leigh Community trust iwhich ex community dept run by Hannah and Heather, they are based at the LSV , Starbug is a Trustee of this and always has been even when it was a part of Leigh Centurions, they have worked very hard to keep going after being ditched by the club and currently secured some large amounts of funding. Hannah and Heather are big Leigh fans and love the club.
The Leigh Community Foundation is Trevors baby , Miranda ex director is a trustee of this too.
I believe they too are based at the club.

I'm more than happy that Trevor is back on board, let's not forget we went to him when things were at there worst, he stepped in then as a temporary measure, and we survived. He did the right thing when the BOD stepped in by standing aside and the BOD have, in my opinion, been very astute in inviting him back and I'm sure they wouldn't have done so without a great deal of thought.
I place my trust in the BOD, I believe they are acting in the best interests of the club and will continue to do so, so let's give them a chance and let them get on with the difficult job that is Leigh Centurions.

There is obviously a role for all these trusts/clubs/groups and I hope they're all successful - I just wish their names weren't so confusing.

IMHO a strong board is what we want to have in place, more investment and people who genuinely want to club to grow. We as fans want what's best for Leigh Centurions, as long as John Roddys in charge Im confident we will be sucessful, having spoke at length with him over the last week, I'm filled with sincere hope for our future and it's the first time in a long time Ive felt that.

The Foundation is now represented on the BOD by Trevor and is linked closely with us and all the work they do is supported by and branded as Leigh Centurions.

It's an exciting concept and the summer camps and the new apprentice scheme have got off the ground and are going really well.

The apprentices are going in to the schools and community with John, Stu Littler, Kes and Simon Finagan and Ive had some great feedback through the guys and also the schools.

We the board are aware of the RFLs plans for the new structures and the criteria they will expect from SL clubs and the Foundation helps tick many of the boxes we need to tick.

At the end of the day the BOM are here to make desisions that move the club forward and it was voted on in a BOD meeting and viewed as a positive step and let's not forget Trevor like the rest of us is investinsolid own cash so obviously he is liking what he sees and is buying into the new BOD and by having the foundation represented on the BOD means we can ensure that Leigh Centurions and all our community partners benifit from what we do.

When Leigh East had troubles a few months back lots of people came together and the Miners/ East rivalry was put to one side. I have no official connection with either and the foundation and the BOM is community focused and that includes both East and Miners equally and all the community's amateur partner clubs.

If we are to succeed we have to put he past to one side and stick together and build.

I have to say this folks that if you love or claim to love a club or sport as much as you say you do and you have faith in and are friends of those who have chosen to take the reins of the club or sport, then I find it hard to take that a person who had pledged their support to their club or sport can just walk way over this appointment. I hope this is wrong because I too remember Brian, a lovelier bloke you could'nt wish to meet and that for the good of this club a happy outcome can be achieved. Also I really do hope that people don't come on here and start with nasty stories and hearsay, further fueling any differences. Having met both these fellas I can only say good things about them and if there are good in them both then there is grounds for a working realtionship. Andy I personally call on this BOM to work tirelessly to get these two working together - if this story is correct - for the good of our great club.

Well guys this appointment has been the most talked about for some time

You say John roddy new nothing about a disagreement concerning Trevor and Brian well Brian made it very clear to many off our supporters and people off Leigh what he thought about Trevor

Good old north stand hiding behind a username no sign of you when all the positive news is going on first hint of negativity and your all over it.

Trevor knows the roll he's brought in to do and is happy with that and won't be leading anything.

This appointment would always split opinion, I'm sure the BOM would have known that beforehand so I presume they calculated the 'negative' problems that could occur would be outweighed by the 'positives' Mr Barton may bring to the club.

Andy just so you know have seen more boards come and go at Leigh than I care to remember so have reason to be a bit carefully before I give out any accolades
