the sl u21s games are better quality.'"
The rules are changing from next season. A raft of young guns from SL teams will be available to other clubs because the reserves and academy teams are being merged into an under 20s team. Each club will only be allowed to play up to three over 20s in that team (as reservists). So anyone over 20 not signed up to the first team will be free to go wherever. I would imagine there will be more loan agreements available as a result because there are bound to be players that SL clubs would like to retain, possibly considering future squad changes, but they can no longer keep them at the club once they pass 20 years old. So both Championship and Championship 1 teams may benefit, given their now more restrictive salary caps.

We, in the Championship, have seen the reality of loan agreements, thank you. Widnes had Hall from Hull, and Penney and Pickersgill from Warrington. Leigh had Hemingway from Huddersfield. They were bedded nicely into their respective Championship clubs, when Warrington and Huddersfield called their players back, so they could field weakened teams before Wembley. What of Widnes and Leigh? Well, they got the players match fit for the SL clubs and were then left with gaping holes in their squads, at a critical stage of the season.
Let the SL clubs keep their own squad players fit, thank you!

Except that now it is a 'live' cap and monitored every month then you'll be docked points at the time you breach it. In season's gone by you could have done it and took the points deduction the next season, but not now. So if the club 'spend as we like' then the RFL will 'deduct points as they like'.

if the maximum they can deduct is 6..we will win the league by more than 6 so infact it would be less of a penalty than deducting it when we are back in the Championship..

What he means is you'd get docked 6 points each time! Feb - Sept that's 8 months so planning on winning the league by 48 points?

| I hardly think this would happen - so they are going to have effectively a monthly salary cap, with a monthly audit from the goons at Red Hall?
How would they know if you have broken an annual cap half way through the season? What happens if you overspend one month and underspend the next month - do you get some of your points back?
I don't think so..

| At least 12 of those players have not on been on the books for sometime now, Barrow took over the 5 oldham players contracts which were at NL2 salary cap so wont be high as people may think.

Did Dewsbury have special dispensation ? NOPE So why should you ? Your Chairman should have got his head out of his ar*e and realised what was happening. He has been very clever in signing these big money players up before going to the RFL with his begging bowl. The RFL should be ashamed of themselves if they give you dispensation from the cap. A Top notch Stadium doesn't give you the right to anything, What you need to do is sign excellent quality Championship 1 players (which I don't see you struggling to do) and do what Dewsbury have done, whilst remaining within the rules - The amount of respect you would gain from that will be priceless. Think about it, you could have any player in Championship 1 as well as some decent loan players which would get you straight back up to The Championship at the first attempt.
The RFL auditors will find any irregularities at Barrow if there are any but I seriously doubt it will happen - Why put in all this hard work to p*ss the RFL off and go against the criterea for a franchise - Doesn't make sense to me !

| Oh dear, how do they keep the squad players fit now. Only 3 over age layers allowed in their new U20's teams. I see the RFL are thinking things through again. I think SL clubs should only be allowed to loan out one player on their books. If they don't have room for them then they should get rid and let them try and get games elsewhere.

Why be so naive?
If players contracted at the time go above salary cap you get fined! You can't say oh this week we've only got a-z signed up and next week we have the 2 stars on big deals but they didn't count when we played lower sides etc etc!
Cap is yearly based on contracted players on your books at the time! Same as you at work you have a yearly salary add them all together to get totla and it's that simple, if over you get pinged simple as really!

| Dont know if this has been previously mentioned but the club have a meeting with the RFL this week with regards to the salary cap and the already signed player. I would imagine this is why there has been a delay in announcing the signings from widnes. I was also told the club are looking for more investment from Mr Rowland in order to tie up some of the current squad for contracts next year.

Gary - I too am against 'special dispensations', but we can't escape the fact that the RFL is for ever using them, to cover the loopholes they create in their 'legislation'. You are right about Dewsbury, they didn't need 'special dispensation', although they were working to a higher cap (than 2010) in C1. They also employed most of their Championship side, in C1.
As for our chairman, perhaps he genuinely believed that we would avoid relegation, when he was signing players? After all, we should have avoided it! I think he was just doing what all other chairmen were doing, and snapping up talent when it became available - if we had avoided relegation, at 'the death', it may have been too late to sign these players? Also, we have some of the 2009 squad on contracts, from years back, so we're committed to employing them in 2010.
So, would it be 'wrong' for us to be granted 'special dispensation'? Yes, but it wouldn't be the first time, and it certainly won't be the last!

| Its a fact some C1 clubs are smaller than LMR/Easts, they are little more than pub teams playing on parks with a shed to sit in.
Those same clubs have the same vote as the more ambitious clubs, they rely on RFL money so vote with the RFL. The game here is a joke, its not about let the quality shine, its about lets drag back ambition to allow a level playing ground for the never will haves.
