don't throw in the towel just yet - it seems to me that other clubs, like Wakefield, have seemingly been seconds from the end and the taxman was part of the problem - and yet they are still going.

I don't know the facts but potentially they are holding put for a better deal - when they realise it isn't coming and they may end up with less, they may think again.

40 grand is not a lot of money to them - it would be awful if it was that amount which tipped us over into the abyss.

What is important now is, a) How much do we owe HMRC? b) How long are they going to give us to pay it?

Until we know the answers to those questions, we have no idea what is going to happen next.

HMRC will probably instigate a winding up order, so yes the club will go to the wall.

And I fear HMCR will use us as an example and stuff us.

Where has this story that we were offering the TAX man so many pence in the pound? Anyone in their right mind knows that this never happens. At the fans forum and before it. Was the plan to delay the payment for 6 or 12 months not the case, and were we not very close or certain that they would accept this? What has happened behind closed doors in the quiet period since the forum meeting? Thats what I want to know.

Unbelielvable! What on earth are we doing trying to negotiate with the tax man!! What a waste of time. They always get what they want, even if it puts a company under. They would have been better using their energy to raise the funds to pay the taxes and then try to negotiate with all the other creditors afterwards. I thought the BOD were experienced businessmen?

To be fair we don't know or aren't privy to what was offered. I wonder if we can get Andy Burnham taking the case up for us. I can understand HMRC stance, sports clubs have got away with murder in the past.

As I questioned, when was the first fans forum? At the time we looked a good bet to make the GF and with £30k at least pocketed there wouldn't have been a problem, sadly this is what happens when something happens to a wealthy benefactor.

hopefully LISA can get its money back and the funds that have been raised are in a secure bank account.

LISA is a separate organisation - any money that it currently hold will stay where it is.

Any money that went to the club will have been used, or will be used, to pay our creditors or service or overdraft, etc.

We can't let this issue put us off trying to save our club, but we need to make sure the money goes to LISA to protect it, and that it is only handed over when the clubs future is secured (even if the LISA money is part of what is securing that future)

I'm sure the LISA money is ring fenced... although more learned people than I will surely answer more thoroughly.
