| Fred ive been told of rumblings of unrest ,at the Mutants, with a few players not happy, about Cullens words after our game with them, and there could be more departures, iminant, imjust not sure how the Salary cap works, and players being told they are free to talk with other clubs?

| I think in Webster's case he asked for the release to join Hull FC as assistant therefore Widnes should not have to pay him off. Id be wary of Ford, apparently last offseason he was due to sign at Fax and then changed his mind after reading some comments on the Fax forum. A bit sensitive I think. Whatever the cause, he has now been dumped by two teams in six months.
How about Mick Govin, a quality player when fit. Would offer an option to rest Wobbie when needed and cost very little.

| Play with what we have - a small, tight committed squad who are playing for each other and want to win. Speaking to a player last weekend, he said everyone is getting on well within the squad and morale is very high within the camp and everyone is enjoying playing with each other.
Obviously we have help from the dual lads but even when they aren't available we have we have just about enough cover, there is no need to be getting rid of players and getting new ones in, we probably can't afford to and it could disrupt the team.

There was a picture of him in yesterday's MEN playing for Swinton on Wednesday, so I imagine he's filled his annual appearance quota now.

| As i said my idea,is a tough choice, seems tome a lot of posts on the Forum are talking of raising extra cash for new players, nowt wrong with that, ive just asked how we would stand introducing the idea of releasing players,if they were in agreement.

I don't know about the Widnes situation, i meant that we would not be able to afford compensation if we were to release players.

| Have we not got a Rowley,Baldwin or Scott Martin at the Club? Steve Simms managed to find three Gems in our Junior ranks and, promoted them all at once with great success!

| I have heard even more about the so called troubles at the Chemics and have for the last few months but all are rumours and should be treated as such (even though Smiffy should be worried )
One sided Mick has signed at Swinton, he couldnt do the job before so what has changed?
Webster asked (cough cough) to leave where as Ford will just be being paid basic contract money but if they refuse to pay him that then they would be in breach of contract.
It woould appear that anyone who didn't sign for Fax were either too old or too sensetive, but having witnessed Mr Callands outbursts then I see what they mean (though Mr Cullen is about on a par with him )

| Webster asked to leave so isn't entitled to compo. Ford is still at Widnes and has been told he can talk to other clubs and he wont be considered for selection this weekend. It could be that noone signs him and he'll stay at Widnes. If he signs for another club he doesn't get compo either.

Undoubtably would be a great player would Govin, we gave him every chance but we just couldnt keep him on with his injury problems.
good player, risky with his injury problems though

| don't understand this thread. You've lost one match to the team that re-took the top spot on a night without most of your dc player and when almost everyone on here cited being "tired" as the main reason for the loss??
If that was the case why do you need to risk the fiscal stability of the club when otherwise the players you have are good enough? I've read so often on here how the leigh team is the best in the league - explain the need to increase unnecessary financial risk at a ridiculously unstable time when comments on this board mainly support the notion that the leigh team is the poodles swingers anyway?

| Most of its general discussion, no harm, but some of its because Leigh fans love to whine about something or other.
We could win the World Club Challenge and some folk would say they're not watching us until we've won Wimbledon as well.

| i have no doubts what so ever that if IM thinks he needs 1/2 fresh faces for the run in and we are under the cap then AT and the BOD will do there best to find the money needed to help him out.so until then lets just carry on enjoy this season because so far its been a cracker and its got everyone is smiling again.

Because we're panicking and we don't like it up us.
Of course, new quality players would be nice but we are doing exceptionally well with current squad. If there is any money, which there isn't apparently, let's wait til end of season and bring in someone for the play offs or just before.

| You can never have too many quality players. It looks to me that at the moment we have more than our fair quota of those already... even if we didn't have to pay players off to 'sack' them, who would we want to lose to make space under the SC for new faces?
If the money is available, great, spend it... but don't go getting shut of the players we have in the hope that a new face will be a touch better and will immediately fit in.
