| I used to go and watch United every week, and try and watch Leigh too . However that was many years ago before United won premiership number one.
Ive seen them win at Wembley and lose there too. These days Id choose Rugby over Football as the games changed, too much diving and cheating in Football these days.
Although theres one thing that Ive always done since being a little girl is follow Man Utd. My grandad supported them and he was my hero, my username is his name.

| Quote ="Walt Mooney Fan Club"So -push comes to shove - City are playing Utd in a cup semi final. You don't have access to a ticket, but the match is on TV Sunday afternoon......and (just to ramp it up a bit), you have no way of recording the game to watch later....your SKY+ or TIVO is bust.....and you threw your video recorder out years ago!!
Same day, Leigh are hosting Dewsbury in a championship match. This is April, so the season hasn't really settled into it's rythym yet, but Leigh are top four, and Dewsbury are struggling to buy a win.
Leigh game is a 3pm start - the football kicks off at 3.15
Do you go and watch Leigh, or the footy on TV??
The one you choose is your real passion - the other is just summat you have an interest in, when it doesn't clash with your real passion!!
'"
In fairness your last statement isn't entirely true unless you compare like for like, as I'm sure a run of the mill early season football game would lose out if put against us playing in the Challenge Cup Final

| This is what dreams are made of. When Chelski turned Shaun Wright Philips head a few years back (our best player at that time) and signed him, it seemed curtains that City would ever challenge for the big prize again.
The best teams in PL have been the biggest spenders, which spoiled the competition. Sheikh Mansour has made the impossible possible for us Blues. Roy of the Rovers stuff
We have always known that we are the best team in all the land, even when we was in the third tier. We have just had it rubber stamped and made it official.
Just a reminder to the Utd fans that have always thought supporting success and taking the Mick out of true loyal fans, a great classic song from OT:
This is how it feels to be City....
This is how it feels to be small....
This is how it feels when your club wins nothing at all.....
Altogether now.....
Unlucky Bolton. Rather have Bolton stay up than QPR.

| We've got a 50/50 house tonight. My partner is a City fan and when I used to watch fuzzball, Bolton were my team. Not just gutted for Bolton but for the North West. Just glad that Wigan stayed up as it would have been disastrous for the area. Having said that we may have got a few more through the gates.

| Man City have won the league title for the 1st time in 44 years, whilst United have won it 12 times in the last 20 years !
Shame about Bolton, I know most of their fans HATE Man United because of all the trophies that they win, but I would have liked them to stay up. QPR have quite a lot of money also, and it's pathetic that they only stayed up because Bolton drew.

Sadly, you're exactly right. Not exactly a shock given how poorly we've played for the vast majority of the season, but gutting all the same.

Yeah - but one is 'Current Affairs', and the other is 'History'!!........if you're gonna bang on about what they did in the past, it'll sound like the Scousers banging on about 4 European Cups in 7 seasons, and all their titles!!
Bit naughty of the 'Noisy Neighbours' to win it with two goals in 'Taggert Time'.....it makes it look like rubbing his nose in it!!!
Pity about my home town team, but they've been dire most of the season - and it's not like they've not had the chance to make themselves safe in the last couple of weeks - yet managed to pluck defeat from the jaws of victory!! Can't see them bouncing straight back either!......as half the squad were out of contract at the end of the season anyway (and the reported financial worries), maybe a 'period of re-adjustment' in the Championship might be a blessing in the long run.
Time for Leigh to approach Bolton, and look at joint ticketing initiatives maybe??

We've already got one, he's called Eddie Davies and he is the one who is owed the vast, vast majority of the debt and is extremely unlikely to 'call it in' at any point. Plenty of restructuring will take place and I doubt we'll bounce back straight away, but realistically our natural level is always likely to be a 'yo yo club', it's just the current trend for money men is distorting things a little (and even then it very nearly didn't save QPR).

| As a man united fan i would like to congratulate man city on winning the title, but i would also like to mention that all those who hate man united and there is an awful lot of them out there, that when it's the european championships, and let's say rooney scores in the last couple of minutes in a decider to get in the next round, everybody in the whole country will be celebrating.

That's a fatuous argument!! Quite apart from the fact, as Michael points out, that Rooney is a product of the Everton Academy, what have his performances for England got to do with his current employers?? He held them to ransom to double his wages......it didn't stop him being useless during the World Cup, and moaning at the fans who had been daft enough to have travelled to South Africa (in the vain hope that England had a cat in hells chance!) for expressing their disappointment in yet another inept display from their national team!!
By your rationale, if Sam Tomkins scores the try that beats the Aussies in next years RLWC final then we should all become W*gan fans!!!
And anyway, your Rooney/England/Euros argument is lost on me........I'll be cheering on the Irish!!

| Every club in the Premier League wanted United to fail no doubt, as they did years ago when LIVERPOOL had a monopoly on winning everything. Thats the way it is.
Never has there been a more exciting finish to a season then this.
I just hope after losing Bolton and BLACKBURN< Blackpool can win and we at least get one NORTH WEST club back in to replace the two we have lost.
Fingers crossed too more importantly that losing Blackburn doesn't result in them playing their reserve games elsewhere, losing the LSV money.

| At the gym this morning someone asked me had I seen Match of the day last night.
I said funnily enough I did' as I have a few friends who are City supporters. I can imagine how they would have reacted when the winning goal went in.
Then I said I see City are having a parade through Manchester this evening (and given the fact I will be getting a bus to Leigh on Wednesday for the LISA meeting) I innocently asked when the Losers parade would be.
He was not happy at all Well' I had no idea he supported Man U.

My response was to the point you made! - and I ask again....what has the fact that Rooney plays for Man Utd got to do with him turning out for England? And what difference do his perfomances for England make to those who dislike Man Utd?
The analogy to Sam Tomkins, I feel, still applies. In all team sports fans can 'hate the club' (be they local rivals, the successful, the rich, or the arrogant!), but adore the individual when they turn out in 'representative' games (county, state, country).......as has always been, and will always be!!
I don't hate Man Utd - I'm, on the whole, 'neutral' these days over football (especially the over-paid primadonnas in the Premiership!)
For me, being a Leyther must be what it's felt like to be a City fan over the last thirty years.....living in the shadow of your record breaking neighbours, watching on year after year while they collect titles, go to Wembley, cups, gongs, open-top buses, etc, etc.........Imagine Whitehaven in '82 (where a win was needed to clinch the title) then multiply that pressure - tenfold - a hundredfold....and imagine that it was W*gan sitting in 2nd place, level on points!! Now THAT is what it feels like to be a City fan at the moment, so you can't blame them for being a bit giddy!! You also can't blame fans of other clubs offering up banter.....in the same way that Saints/Wire/Leeds/etc would (on "The Cherry & Sh[iy[/ite"icon_wink.gif if the scenario I'd just described had played out!!.....we all can but hope!!
