| Quote ="wbk666"isnt there a rule that clubs HAVE to use squad numbers now?'" i am sure there is, doesn't stop me hating them, what is wrong witha full back wearing 1, and a stand off wearing 6, we all know were we are then, but its all down to cash and flogging a few extra shirts.

| It, bloody terrible.
I have enough numbers to remember when I phone someone or use a credit or debit card or quote a bank account number.
Full backs should have a number 1 on their shirt 6 for stand off 9 for hooker etc.
They do this just to get at me when I put the wrong players name when I post a compliment or otherwise.
I honestly can,t see the point of them.

| I prefer squad numbers in truth. I find it far easier to namea player, although last year at Whitehaven was interesting as because his number 7 shirt got full of blood, Ian Watson wore Martyn Ridyard's no.23!

| The only reason Abram did it alphabetically in the SL season was because he hadn't got a clue who was going to play where. Most teams put their first choice 13 in shirts 1 to 13.

| Who cares, it was stupid. ie he pi**ed the players off before a ball was passed. Now we know why the players wouldn't play for him, they couldn't have the number they wanted

| I can't get my head around why the RFL insist on squad numbers. I don't even buy into the theory that they help to sell shirts.
We didn't play under squad numbers in 2006 or 2007 but that did not stop a certain young person (who will remain nameless) begging weekly for a Leigh shirt with '7-Azza' on the back.

Quite agree, to be honest. Was weird watching 1-17 in the Four Nations having been used to squad numbers all season.

The lads in the Subby club on Saturday preferred the 1-17, whilst they were watching the match, they were playing a game of their own.
From what I could see, each of them put in £1 and were given a number 1 – 17, if your number (from either team) knocked on, gave away a penalty, knocked the ball dead or in touch, basically turned the ball over, you paid in another £1, this continued until someone scored a try in which case if your number scored you took the winnings and it started over again. Think the end winnings went to the MOM.
I digressed please ignore me and feel free to continue.

Sounds a good idea Fred I shall try to get the committee to arrange it at a suitable venue.
