Will somone on here please tell what the flute crap has to do with our club or even our game. It's pile of abusive tripe. Writen by someone with no brain and sung by them. Sorry if I upset you lot but I have very strong feelings about this. It should be outlawed and people singing it should be ejected from the ground. Our club does not need this kind of rubbish sung on it's terraces or in the changing rooms. The only reason the players sing it is because they think that it is the fans anthem. Well it isn't and someone should tell them.

Excellent song. just needs a bit of refining to fit in. Just add "that" after "coach" on the fourth line "all" after "us on the last line.

barring one swear word what exactly do you find offensive... the fact someone bought a flute at a bargain price or the fact that it would only play one tune?

I think it poorly represents modern inflation rates, to be honest. I think it should be "bought a flute for 20 pence, but thanks to Thatcher it's gone up since", or summat along those lines.

It's as loosely related as any other chant, I'd guess, in that it mentions the word 'Leigh' and that's about it. To be quite honest, it doesn't bother me in the slightest (the PC brigade can sit down and watch any given episode of Corrie or Eastenders to see what is defined as acceptable these days!); no idea when it first appeared on the terraces, but it's barely uttered these days anyroad so nowt to be worried about, I'd say.

I'm getting off my soap box now but I would just like to say this. At quite a few games in the past seasons I have sat or stood with opposition fans and when we sing it we sound like a bunch of knobs and thats the way opposition fans see us for it. Some are disgusted and some just laugh at such a stupid song. As Forrst said "stupid is what stupid does".

I’ve sang the flute song on many an occasion, but do feel that we need to drop it, its got no place in a ‘family fun filled environment', which is what we should be aiming for at LSV.

6 of us (3 couples), coming home from Manchester on Saturday heading back to the Bowling Green, had all the bus singing along to, The 12 days of Christmas, Jingle bells, Rudolf, Delilah, Day Dream Believer, Amarillo, etc, ok we were on our usual Christmas do, and had been on the beer from early, but they were mainly shoppers, complete strangers all joining in simply because they already knew the words, enjoying the Christmas spirit and all having a bit of a laugh, mainly at our expense

we had one young couple with a baby starting us off with the Mexican wave and one old dear said to my wife, “This is the best bus I’ve ever been on.”

I’m not quite sure the flute song would have had the same affect.

In that context, probably didn't work. However, if it was sang on the famous Toulouse 'party bus' then it probably went down well, albeit with the Frogs not having a clue what they were on about

Don't see why not, though as you acknowledge that's summat that happens when people have been on the ale (Barrow away being a fine example!) and it's either a) umpteen threads on here on a Monday morning about drunken hordes or b) umpteen threads on here from now until the end of time moaning about the LSV ale prices
