I've no idea if they did or didn't
FWIW Saley most if not all your ideas should be seriously looked at for next season and onwards.
i genuinely think the risk of doing things on the cheap this season 'and it failing' could have finished the club off.
You also need to remember the club had to convince the rfl and the tax man 'i think' that they had a viable financial plan to get us through the season

Without trawling back and then doing a load of sums, I don't know. But, if we based our 'break-even' budget on crowds of 1800 at current prices, I can't see how that will work. (an extra 200 x 8 league games @ £12 was it = £19k extra, less VAT, less LSV share. But then there's the reduced revenue of the 1,800 budget fans x 8 games x £16/£18 less your £12)

| What we need is more Leigh fans through the turnstyles, you build your club from the bottom up, target the right market and keep backing up the offers

| Quote ="Saley2"The only question i want answering is this and nobody has given me a decent answer or argument although asked on numourous occasions
The club has sent a clear message to the people of Leigh you have to pay £16 / £18 if you decide on the day to come and watch leigh however a ST holder from every other club in the country can come to leigh and do exactly the same and pay £10 and get their kid in for free. Please please please explain to me how this is going to get our supporter base to grow its a very very simple question.
If a sensible answer is given im more than happy to leave it'"
I've only read up to here. I seriously can't be bothered with any more of it.
I was all for coming back to supporting full time, at home at least.
I was a season ticket holder till a couple of years ago when work decided I had to change my hours.
They aren't going to get me and my kids back watching this way, no chance.
A seat is a seat and a standing place is the same (well, better really!), they should all cost the same whoever is paying.
We all know money matters, and I know the Club is struggling, but it seems if you don't have a season ticket you just don't matter any more.
Well, I can find lots to do on a Sunday afternoon or Thursday or Friday evening. Thanks and good luck.

| Well if people take their lead from you Saley, theres no point in fundraising either, cause we won't have a club. The way I saw this season is a one off to clear the debts and move forward from 2013. Looks like some people still want something for nowt. reality check needed by some. I'm off this thread

I don't want anything for nothing, I'm quite willing to pay, but if others are getting their kids in for nothing and having cheap seats then why shouldn't I do the same?
I have to say this won't have the slightest bit of difference to whatever games me and my kids get to see, it all depends on my work But what I posed before is true, I can't be the only one who thinks like that surely?

| But they do not get in for free Lucy. This is about an offer for season ticket holders of other teams and they would still have to pay.
C'mon get youself and your lads to the Goose a fortnight tonight and I will pay you all in. I will want a pint though.

I never sad they got in for free! and I don't want to get in for free!
They'd get in cheaper than I would. Maybe that's my fault though for having a job where I can't be quite so committed to the cause.

| What I am trying to say is that this season is all about setting the club up on a sound financial footing for the future. What happened to Arthur couldn't be helped, however that left us with obligations that we couldn't pay. This year is all about going the extra mile, we have some who are not willing to go the extra inch to save the club from extinction. I accept there are also some that can't afford to go that extra inch.
I don't want to blow my own trumpet, but I have decided to do what I can to help. That involves travelling to Leigh from Warrington to deliver forecast coupons...getting to home games 2 hours before to harass the people in the boxes and the Touchdown club with said coupons. Trevor has provided both of us with passes to go where we want effectively, so I could watch the game for free I suppose, but I buy 2 tickets for the north stand every home game. Time spent delivering the coupon, marking the coupons, maintaining the website must run to 10-15 hours every week, plus cost of copying, cost of paper, cost of fuel. Why do I do it, because I love my club and I would like it to be around when the Ivory Towers collapse.
There are alot of people putting alot of there own time into bringing in that extra pound and I won't list them for fear of forgetting anyone, but there could be a hell of a lot more.
Come on guys and gals, go that extra centimetre just for this season. Forget the arguments over a couple of quid here and there.

| Derek, people volunteering like you and your Mrs are why this club could have such a great future - we have a significant hardcore of fans willing to go that extra mile. All you need to do is look at the work done/money raised by LISA from such a small fan base, SL clubs would die for a supporters group who consistently contribute to that level per fan.
I have only admiration for the likes of Dick, Charlie, Alan (Yes, thats you!!) and Fred for what they do and the time they put in.
I am suspicious of other things but know the solution lies with transparency and I believe LISA will get that soon if an earlier discussion and previous promise from the board mean anything.
Derek folk like you and others are helping to keep our club alive, Thankyou.

Could not agree more with the above maurice i hope i am not branded a trouble maker of negative towards the club because i dint agree with one idea that has come out of the club. I to have attended meetings with trevor i have set up the shopping directory at personal cost to myself and still spend time developing it i have offered my services to support the new website etc etc etc i want the best for my club, like i said before and this will be my final point on this thread i have not had a go at anyone personally on this thread and i think i have put my points across in a reasonable manor and i appeciate all the comments that dont agree with me i have taken them on board i hope the idea is great success and i look forward to watching our crowds grow from my place in the north stand. Keep up the fantastic work guys you are the lifeblood of our club.

For anybody who still thinks this initiative is a good idea, read the above.
I've no idea who Lucy is, however she is our target market and without being made to feel like she wants to come and spend her hard earned in getting through the turnstiles. I hope Trevor & co read this, they are doing a great job but are making a critical error supporting this idea.

| Sorry if this point has already been made, but the cost of fuel etc. to attend away games for most away supporter's is a concern and factor for not supporting teams away from home. Not so much for home fans as they don't have to travel far unless like me you have moved away from the area your team plays in. I don't mind if a club can entice a couple of hundred more away fans by off-setting the travel costs a bit by reducing the entrance fee then surely this has to be a good thing for everyone. It's a better atmosphere in the ground with a few more away fans and I also think away fans will be more inclined to by a half time draw ticket, pint, burger or programme if the clubs have reduced there entry prices. All clubs are struggling to attract fans in this division and they all need to try different things to get more bums on seats.
I live near Llangollen in Wales and still manage to get to the majority of home games at the Mount, despite the 200 mile round trip. Because of the costs involved in travelling and evening kick off's, I don't get to every home game, so a season ticket is not worth it for me as I probably miss 3 or so games a season making a season ticket more expensive than paying on the door.
I would not feel upset seeing opposing fans with a season ticket saving a fiver on the entrance fee over me though, despite probably travelling further than them too. The 'Dog's are my club, always have been and always will be, I feel it is kind of my responsibility to support them, to ensure I do my bit to help ensure they survive.
Yes, it would be far easier and cheaper supporting Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Leigh, Widnes or god forbid North Wales Crusaders or whatever they are called this time!!!! or any of the other clubs I pass on my way to Batley, but it just isn't the same watching anyone else. I've been to Saint's and Wigan with mates a few times as they support them, I can't deny the class and football played is far superior to that played at the Mount, but it's impossible to have the same feelings or to get as excited watching anyone else it just doesn't mean anything watching anyone else.
I can't imagine not having the 'Dog's to watch, imagine not having Leigh Centurions and never being able to take your kids or grand-kids to enjoy the experiences or feelings of elation after a hard fought win you have enjoyed over the years.
Come on, get behind the club they need you; we all need you, the league would not be the same not having Leigh to visit, (it's the closest thing I get to a home game this season!!!)

I think if something works and gets paying bodies in the ground then it's a good thing.
The club at this time needs all it can get, financially and numbers wise.
I do however think the club has overlooked and alienated a good group of fans by buying into this initiative.
If they can make this up by attracting away fans then good luck to them.
