| Sorry to hear this news. Like I have said on other threads " our program stands out head and shoulders compared to the rest". What I will say and if I am ridiculed for it so what. I don't buy the program to help out the club, I buy it for the read. I buy a season ticket , joined LISA and other things to do that. If the content of our rag starts to fall I personally won't buy it and the teaser of collecting stars won't tempt me either. If enough people think like me then it will be a big fuss and someone will have oeuf on their bouch.

| Is it worth having a programme? Does producing them lose money for the club? If so, what is the point of having one. Is it just to keep the I don't like change brigade happy? Seems more hassle than it's worth.

Personally I do like a program home and away - they are a grand 'keepsake' for referral in later years (or weeks sometimes these days - nay hours! ) as to who played (if you can keep up with the announcer when he / she gives out the team) and the score / scorers when you jot them down - very handy.
As said ours [u has[/u been the best - time will tell if it will remain so.
Many thanks Alan for your services to date - you can sit back and enjoy the games from now on.

Well it has survived through the darkest days of the club so the only sensible answer must be that it is a money generator, otherwise it would be one of the first things to be cut as an unaffordable luxury.
As for hassle, well its a lot of work, but that's OK if you had a passion for it like Alan, and knew that it was appreciated by the fans. The question remains as to whether that passion can be replaced.

Very True , as you say a programme provides you with info and Stats to look up in later years , I have programmes going back to the early 60s , a very informative read , and I will miss Alan .

It makes money for the club. I am sure Alan handed a cheque to the Board at a Fans Forum a couple of seasons ago for profits from its' sale and it was for a good sum.

No Frank - he did a presentation on the profitability of the programme. Based on recent sales, the programme made a slight loss, until you took advertising into account. Then it made a profit.
Last year we had very few adverts, and hence I reckon we lost money, especially as gates were down.
However, Rob is doing a fantastic job, attracting advertisers and, if the gates increase, the signs should be good. (especially now my exorbitant salary is taken out of the equation! )

Thanks Ian - I'm staggered by the number of lovely messages I've had. They all help me feel a little (but not much) better about things

| Sorry to hear about Alan leaving his post - agree with the previous comments about all the good work he's done getting it into the great shape its in.
I don't know what the nature of the disagreement was (lets be honest none of us need to know really), but as Andy says, we need to move on rather than trying to drag any differences through a public forum.
One final thought though - I was always a fan of the independently produced fanzines we've had over the years (Satanic Mills et al). Maybe LISA could commission Alan to resurrect something like that, less regular (say monthly or quarterly), and maybe with a slightly more "unofficial" and humorous tone than the club programme so as to avoid treading on any toes, but helping get LISA news out to the fans and members, and also helping in any future recruitment drives to attract new members. Just a suggestion but maybe worth thinking about IMO....

Thanks for that leyther1!!
Seriously, I'm flattered, but don't want to commit to anything just yet. (not yet over the last 'job'!) Also, I'm far from convinced that something 'unofficial' or 'humorous' would not ending up 'treading on someone's toes.' People can sometimes read something into an innocent remark, that's just not there. (and that's from previous experience - nothing to do with the past couple of weeks.)

Any time Alan
I was just thinking out loud really - wondering if some sort of newsletter might help get LISA events and meetings publicised outside of just the LISA membership, and help with recruitment drives at the same time. And if it also happened to be something readable that could maybe find its way into a few town centre pubs it could maybe get people talking about the club in a way that the official communication channels might not manage. But I know what you mean and you're probably right about the whole humour thing being a tricky one to get right - we only have to read back through a few threads on here for some examples of that.

| How about "A view from under a flat cap" still being allowed in the new program ?( If Alan would still be happy to write it )
I enjoyed the "read" just as much as the stats and team news in Alans programs, he has a witty writing style and it will be hard to replace. Maybe having an "independent from the club" article would be a compromise and also an acknowledgement from the club for Alan's past hard graft. Im sure a few toes would be ever so slightly stept on but Alan is very diplomatic and would not see any harm done to the club.

Thank you HH!
I'm afraid the 'Flat Cap' retired with me, so it won't be appearing in the new programme.

| Bringing back "TSM" would be a great idea in theory, you'd need to get copyright release for the name from Mark Taylor first though
Would need to be careful not to be seen as being in competition with the program or competing for the same content. A fine line to tread - probably best to do as a blog in this day and age rather than print it - cheaper and much quicker as well.
