Agree about the golf.

Always makes me laugh that game/pastime is referred to as a sport although I suppose there is a certain skill for a few of the usually overweight adherants and it does wonders for the sale of Kitcats. Mind you Charlie Caroli probably thinks poker is a sport.

Back to the original thread.I honestly think those who come now are extremely unconcerned about this ST offer to fans of other clubs and infact one regular poster on here was conversing with me last night and when I mentioned he would be able to buy me a pint if he used his season ticket at Featherstone he did not realise that.

Now what I do think about our admission prices. Well I think for adults £13 in the North and West stands is better than our current pricing structure but I also think our concession prices are far too low.

Most Leythers in my age group have been fans for far too long to give up now and if entry was £10 I hardly think any regular concession attendee would stop going.

One further point I do not think the Leigh general public who used to attend but do not do now give 2 hoots about what this thread is about purely because they are not fans anymore and I suspect few of those former fans read this board.

We have a hardcore of about 1100 who will come at these current prices and about 1000 more who come now and again.

The problem of increasing our fan base is that every person who has any interest in RL knows that we are in a league which we cannot get out off and that does not just apply to our club it applies to fans of every other club who know that under the current RFL rules they are in the same boat.

The only way out is for one or more of the NON RELEGATION LEAGUE clubs to go bust. That of course never expands pro RL it contracts it.

There are a number of reasons, probably including the pricing structure - although I suspect apathy is a big one too. (and there are a number of reasons for that one as well!)

I know that you believe that the current s/t initiative is a risk (

) but I think cutting the prices by as much as you suggest is an even bigger one. I honestly believe that wouldn't make much difference, well not enough difference, to our crowds - we would then need considerably larger gates than 1800.

Some posters have said that initiatives like the s/t one won't improve our gates long-term, and I fully realise that. Long-term increases are a must, but our problem is that we need a short-term fix too!

What's the answer? Search me, but we need to find one.

Come on Saley, be realistic. You might be able to attribute a small part of it to ticket prices, but all the other reasons given above will have had a major bearing on the crowd.
