Can I just say, this whole "partnership is good because me and other fans will go and watch the Championship club" thing is utter bullocks. I have heard it from various supporters of various clubs and not one person has put their money where their mouth is thus far.

If you want positive thoughts then tell all those people on this MB who are now pretending that they are happy with this link up,that this link up has stopped.You'll see lots of happy people then

I avoided this thread until somebody once again brought up the ' Hilton park / Negociation of a better deal / LSV issue '

I would love to come watching a team representing a forward thinking truly ambitious growing club again , even if it was never able to see SL again , but this is yet another backward step , no matter how small it will end up being , next year the RFL will reinstate the reserve grade and all the fuss will die down , but the damage will be done

I believe I spelt the word correctly elsewhere. However if I made a typo then what can I say other than somebody who has to pint out typing / spelling mistakes on an internet forum is normally considered sad or to be losing the argument.

I quite happily watched Springfield Borough whenever I go the opportunity. Likewise, I do watch Leigh occasionally. I am far more likely to watch a Leigh team with 3, 4 or 5 dual contract Wigan players.

I am a RL fan who supports Wigan. It seems some Leigh fans are not RL fans.

I watch SL on the telly but couldn't give a toss about any of them , I do however care passionatly about all the lower tier clubs , be they heartland or expansion

[uOur sport is being consigned to the dustbin not by the RFL but by braindead NON RELEGATION CLUB Chairman who in their shortsighted cost cutting way are trying to treat the Championship as a training ground for their reserves and players coming back from injury.

When the Championship inevitably folds so will the clubs at the nowhere end of that NON RELEGATION LEAGUE then the top 5/6 can play themselves every other week or so for 9 months a year.

I did write that and I think it is correct. I still don't think we will ever see our club taken over by Wigan or any other club however.

And re Miners and Easts I shall also continue to watch them when I can.

The championship clubs should collectively be pushing to reinstate P & R. Even in SL a return to what I personally consider the right system has considerable support.

And who told you they were 'stupid' Starbug? Having been attending 'PSG' meetings, since they started, I can honestly say nobody in there said your ideas were 'stupid'. What I did hear, was a sense of frustration that we didn't/don't have enough bodies to implement good ideas - yours and those of others.

A PR own goal but probably one half taken out of the clubs hands by RFL stance. We had a similar agreement with Wigan last year and there wasn't the outcry there is now.

I am seeking some clarification and plan to run a couple of interviews if can be arranged.

One thing I will say is that currently we have two Wigan lads making their way in our 20s, they are good players and enhancing the squad currently. They are also in the final years of their contracts with Wigan and I can see them becoming Leigh players in future if they continue to develop. These lads compliment what we already have. I do not believe they are holding any of our lads back, just as Chris Rowe didn't hold any Wigan lads back when he was there last year.

Also a dual registration should always be for the benefit of the player. We forget them in all of this.

Whatever floating or latent support we had has now gone with this announcement.

Nothing said now will change their minds.

Leythers are resilliant and proud people. Ask anyone what is famous about Leigh and regardless of wether a current, laspsed or none RL supporter, 99.9% of Leythers will say Leigh Rugby League Team with a sense of pride.

When we see the club's identity and roots beginning to fall then equally there will be an inevitable backlash.

People who say this is just about it being Wigan rather than ANY other SL feeder club are quite frankly people who must have come down with the last shower because that is the most insulting of all comments. Please allow me re iterate

Not one Leigh supporter in 32 pages (along with countless supporters I have spoken to) have stated / said

'It's what I would have done you know, it's a good thing, we should have done it sooner etc etc'

This is what the club now need to do

They need to sit down with Wigan and get the names of 5 players ( 1 being Spencer ) who will be the DR players for this season

Announce these 5 players and that could appease some of the fans unhappy with this partnership

Harold , it was me who said that about PR picking the best 17 players for Leigh , and i stand by that , once a player puts on a Leigh shirt and goes on the Pitch , HE IS A LEIGH PLAYER , it doesnt matter who has his registration , loan players have been in Rugby League for years , they play to their best ability for the said club .

Ive said it before if an Eskimo comes to the LSV and asks for a trial game , to me hes a Leigh player while on the pitch wearing the Leigh jersey .

Listen it's the way it's been done AND the official statement is as clear as mud.
If wigan were to name 5 dual regs we can have now, as Starbug suggests then that would be enough for me and probably most fans on here.

Lynda , i totally agree with you , well said , both LISA and the Touchdown Club , need to meet to clarify what has been agreed , before fans start making rash decisions about leaving both Groups , which would do nobody any good , ive said it before the majority of posters on this Forum only have Leighs best interests at heart .

You are getting this out of context. It is not a hatred of anyone from Wigan. It is a hatred of seeing my club Leigh losing its identity by twinning up with Wigan.The chant "We hate Wigan" is just a bit of banter. It's what used to go on between clubs in big derby match days. I didn't know you were that sensitive.

We need to keep our independence. SL tried the mergers first, that didn't work. So they stopped P&R knowing this would financially cripple the lower clubs. Now that they are struggling financially, the bigger clubs pick them off as feeder clubs. Is there only a few people on here who can see this?
