They probably won't/can't actually. We as a club, are not responsible for our attendance figures, which are taken by our 'landlords', LSV, and then presented to us. And if we were able to 'massage' them, I'd like to think we could have come up with something higher than we have achieved this season. (in non-shared gates that is

)

As an aside, be careful of making suggestions about 'massaging' attendances. HMRC are interested in ACTUAL numbers, and are probably watching RL clubs closely, given what has happened to a few of us, in the last year or so!

Last seasons final eliminator v Sheffield, we only had a crowd of 1800 (ish) 2nd biggest game of the season, even though sheff brought about 50 fans, it was still a poor effort.
Not used to seeing your typical crowd at Fev, but was surprised at what was given, looked over 2300 at least. With there being a few hundred Leyhters, say 1500 Fev fans, quite a few 'season ticket holders' did not attend the game.....saving their cash for the Final !!!

Taxman is only bothered about the financial figures, the attendance figure makes bugger all difference to them.

Besides which, attendance does not necessarily equate to revenue. If you let in lots of kids, or even give out adult tickets, for free, the attendance figures are higher without increasing the revenue (and tax liability) on the gate money. So you can inflate a crowd (real, or imagined) without increasing tax.

Some newspapers (especially the Independent) give out loads of freebies in hotels etc, but then count them in their circulation figures. Maybe Fev are giving away unused tickets, to kids etc, but including those in the attendance.

Bit difficult for us with the LSV being our landlords as they get 10% of the gate money plus also taking into account we don't have cash turnstyles

Don't knock it until its done. Would you still like to own your ground and not of been where you were 12 months ago or pay a landlord rent to stand / sit in a shiney stadium with no income from sales and half of it shut

I remember a similar final eliminater and shared gate against Batley at Hilton Park in 2003. Batley made an official complaint to the RFL at their final share they received from Leigh.

Been like that for a while IMHO.
I'd scrap em all together and crown the Champions as the one who actually wins the most league games, I think it would boost gates during the season as each fixture becomes important.

Instead of the current Play off decising the best team in the division I'd go with a 'Premiership Trophy' (of old) but have the Top 4 from the Championship and Championship 1 in a random cup draw play off (with top 2 in each division guarenteed a home tie for the first match) to ensure clubs still had a focus in the rare occasions one team may run away with it and have a Championship Premiership day at Warrington , certainly in the Championship I don't think fans are that bothered so long as the team wins a cup as the euphoria of winning a GF knowing you are going up a Division to play against the big boys is currently missing.
By having a Premiership Day we end up with 3, League winners, NRC winners and Premiership winners.

To be fair last week they were playing there arch rivals Saints who would have took loads of fans, this week Cats who would not take many fans at all, then again you would have worked that one out yourself.

Going of last night the answer is obvious and you know it cheated Leigh out of £x's.

Re the rest I like the LSV and wish it was owned by our club but entry into the top league isn't anything to do with grounds anymore is it ? Do you remember the you have to have a 10000/12000 capacity statement when licenscing was introduced ? Go into adminstration and you lose your licence ? Your crowd average has to be 2500 etc etc which does not apply to London Broncos/Gillingham Broncos.

This farce is reducing Pro RL crowds' it is hurting not improving this game we support.

No they wouldn't, but with it being Saints a lot of Wigan fans who don't normally go would go because of the derby effect, but like you say lets move on.
