| May I be the first to say that it looked a lot more than 2,200!
You could say that it's a vast improvement on the 1,300 for the Sunday game against Halifax so Friday's are the winner?

Wake up leigh the public don't like fridays...mind you it was the celebrity big brother final and that of course will have effevted our crowd
Come you defenders tell us why this crowd was so low?'"
Pre-season friendly against a reserve grade SL side. I would say that 2279 is a fantastic crowd. It would have been half that on a Sunday. Wake up Leythers love Friday nights.

| I think I'm going to love Friday nights, maybe the weather put a few off, it was a bit wet earlier on today (can't they get a canopy over that ticket office window, poor Andy mopped the tray three times at least when I got mine!)
I'm not a Monday to Friday 9-5 worker, so Fridays are good for me
And yes, I know, before anyone else says it, I haven't been for ages, but I came on a cold wet Friday night and brought two of my lads.

Good to see you in the Goose before the game, hope you've got the Leyth bug again (if it had ever gone in the first place!)

It was good to see everyone, seen loads of 'old friends' tonight and it was like I'd never been away.
I never lost the bug, just life and circumstances and stupid shifts and priorities took over!
Been listening to Leighlife radio though and decided I had to get back

| The mixture of friday and sundays throughout the season allows for the players to spend more time with their families and time to recover before they go back to work

| Well I think money is tight for a lot of folk and everyone knew Wigan were bringing mostly an under 20's side for tonights friendly game.
Leigh were not attracting enough fans for Sunday afternoon games but tonight I thought Leythers turned up in numbers despite the crowd which was announced.
We have a good side again' something most of us did not dare hope for back in October.
Last time we played Wigan in a friendly they brought over 1000 fans. Tonight I would say 300/400.
Time will tell wether this is a good night to play. I preferred Sundays personally but I can go anyday to watch our lads.

| There were a lot more Pie fans than at ours but Salford have not put an official number out I thought about 3500. The north stand at smelly cold shed dome was nearly 3/4s full. The few that came along last night made enough noise anyway. Well done Pie Eaters.

| i am not going to reoterate my dislike of friday games, the test will come during in the season when we play teams from our league, i will go no matter the day or time, just prefer sunday's. the point that irks me is the fact that it was stated majority of games to be on a sunday, then fixtures come out and most on a friday, time will tell i guess.
ps more importantly great display from our boys, have to say was disapointed in wigan u20 team

They've visited three times now, in 2009, 2010 and 2012. 2009 they brought a good couple of thousand and filled the South Stand and a section of the East. 2010 they brought 1,200 or so IIRC but that was because many were under the impression it was to be a full team for Wigan, and then maybe 300 or so last night.

| it was a friendly against an U20's side, nearly 500 more than the play-off semi v Sheffield last season, not a bad effort 2279.
Not many Wigan fans, and some wouldn't sit down - how naughty !

Dissapointed with the wigan turn out but there are obvious reasons for that.

| I think the club are right to try different things to maximise the gate, we shouldn't be complaining that they are trying everything they can to keep team going we should support them, we complained often enough they were doing nothing.
I expect that even though I'm a season ticket holder, something will occur on one of those Fridays that may mean I can't go, but the club can't build its fixtures around what suits me, it has to build them around what will maximise the crowd, and I believe thats what its done. You will get some people saying we'll go to the Rugby before going out around Leigh, something they can't do with the Sunday fixture in most cases because Monday morning means work, Saturday morning may not in a lot of cases.
The more people that see we have a good team, an entertaining team and most importantly a team that can win trophies, the more we will get through the turnstiles, and if that means playing Friday nights, so be it.
I imagine more than one or two of the pubs were in town were grateful for the Friday fixture.

Not disagreeing with any of the above (even though the switch of K.O days meant I'll miss all Friday games) but I thought the official explanation for the Friday games was due to pitch work at the LSV (or similar) rather than trying out a different night to trial gates.
I think it was Alan who posted at the time (after asking TB why we had moved some of our KO days) that the club had little time to sort something better out.
Have to say though if we'd got 2,270 on a Sunday afternoon (such as today with zero to do/clash with ) v Wigan I would have been a little dissapointed after the promising showings thus far in pre season.
Little point bothering though as its set in stone now so lets see how it runs and hope it reaps some rewards for the club.
Lets not forgot though its 2,270 more than some of us was expecting such was the concerns in the off season of our clubs very existance in 2012 so its still a positive

Don't get me wrong not knocking it but in terms of local interest I think one has more spice than the other.
If you'd asked me would I prefer to miss a game v Halifax's full team or a game v a Wigan U20 / fringe team I'd miss the Fax one every time

Not for me jenky Halifax are far more important to me than wigans kids.
Now if wigan had put 6/7 first team players in the team and they haddn't played the tuesday before i believe the gate would have been 3000+

| I think the fact that we beat Wigan - even though it was the reserves - and the way we have gone in the other two matches, it will have wetted a few peoples appetites for a view of a bit more and could enticed a few stay aways back.
