to be fair the CEO never said it was business as usual, he just asked fans to turn up as usual - that is very very different. The press release just got a bit carried away and reached for a well-worn cliche.

To imply that it is as business as usual from an overall club perspective is laughable, a bit like saying that the manager has the chairmans support...next thing you know he has been fired...!

Anyway, "news" of a consortium is interesting, although often consortiums don't work as well as an individual with a single mind and focus...

The headline said "Business As Usual". If it were from a paper I'd agree with you, but it's a club press release.

I'm sure that certain people are hoping that it will be business as usual - that they continue to enjoy a place on the board whilst other investors come in and finance it.

Isn't it time that shares are put up for grabs at very favourable terms to those who can guarantee an investment and that those who can no longer contribute go back to being passionate fans?

My own view on this is that there is (or should be) more to being on a board than making a large pile of your own money into a small one. For example, what else can they bring to the table - innovation, vision, contacts, strategy, business acumen, financial expertise - lots of things. Whether the current board members do any of those things is not quite the point. Simply turning up with a wad of cash is only going to last so long if you don't know what to do with it..

If that's true, now THAT will be good news.

I suppose so , it all depends on how they want to do things , they might not even know I still have them

Anyone wanting to take over will do it first because they want too' second because they can afford too and thirdly because they are Leythers.

Well believing and being are two different things!

There are many ways to define success, some of which are more measurable than others. Different people will have a different view of the value of each of these successes, including but not limited to:

- increasing average crowds to a certain level
- making a profit
- winning trophies
- getting a franchise
- acting professionally in all aspects (infrastructure, communications etc.)
- long term planning
- diversification of revenue streams
- debt reduction
- player pipeline/development
- community engagement/impact

Only one thing matters

Financial sustainabilty , everything else follows on from that

I'm not knocking anyones opinion but for 99% of us it is "business as usual"
I take the statement to mean that there is no change to the most important things, i.e. the coaching staff and the players. Same team, same coaches, same goal.....Win.
I have stayed quiet on this whole issue other than to thank Arthur Thomas. I will remain patient and see where this all goes. In my perfect world AT would still be the head honch, and our club would actually not be costing him personally a penny anymore, and the team would be doing exactly what it has been doing all season. Perfect worlds do not exist so I will appreciate the team and leave the rest to those who can do something about it.
People were crying out for a statement. Well now you have one. It basically says "all is not sorted yet but it's being worked on so don't panic"
So business as usual. I will spend my Sunday morning glued to Saley's Leigh Updates and fully believe we will win by at least 25 !

Still can't understand why everyone had a nervous breakdown when a chairman steps down,there will always be a leigh.

Like I said on maurice thread,if one version folds nothing stopping anyone from hiring lsv and forming a new leigh....oh and any previous shares would be nil and void

Being an accountant, I can hardly disagree! However, the problem is that when other clubs do not follow that path, you are automatically at a disadvantage to start with. Its not hard to be financially sustainable, it is called cutting your cloth according to your means - but that could mean playing on a playing field somewhere with players who play for free. However is that were we really want to be?

By financial sustainability I mean at the current level , ie being in a position to spend the max salary cap we are allowed and still run all the necessary structures needed for a professional club , ie academy,scholarship, community and so on

Do you think all those should come first and the money that is left over should be the only amount you can spend on your first team squad.?

I think this press release is a good move from the club. They can't tell all that is being discussed and neither should they. This is the kind of PR that Leigh were traditionally very bad at. Big tick from me for improving communication with the fans.

But fans must understand that they can't be included in all the discussions at every stage.

that is also my view these guys are considering a massive 'investment' it can't be done overnight I'm sure they will have to consult partners, solicitors, accountants etc. someting we as fans shouldnt and can't be a part of my guess nothing will or can be disclosed for at least two weeks and even that is a small timescale.
