At Warrington we have a 'friend for a fiver' voucher in our season ticket book which can be used at the games which normally attract smaller crowds, worth a try?

I'd go for this if the club had a 1000+ season ticket holders

If that was suggested at the LSV , the SMC would kick up a fuss about not knowing which match they might turn up for , it was the same with my book of tickets idea , " What if they all turned up at 1 match ? " , yes , disaster we'd have 5,000 in the ground

There is nothing to play for, that is the reason for low crowds and no matter what you do they are not going to get any higher. Don't blame the club, blame the idiots running this game. 2015 is a watershed for this game. If they don't reinstate P&R, which I fear they won't, then the Championship is dead and it will become the reserve league for SL clubs. Any youngster in the Leigh area wanting to watch RL will be watching Wigan, Wire or Saints. This has always been their agenda, unfortunately there are only a handful of clubs in the Championship who voice their concerns, the rest follow like lambs to the slaughter.

While you are correct to a degree Graham , it is pointless worrying about things you have no control over , all you can do is do your best to expoit what you do have some control over , I'm sure at some point in your business life you were in a similar position , did you give up , or did you find the solution ?

We have to exchange the voucher 24 hours before the game, though tbh I can't see it being possible. I was on the phone to the marketing bloke from Hull FC a few weeks ago (long story) and he was saying that because the KC is owned by the SMC they are very limited in the types of offers they can run.

I suggested a very similar idea to the club 3 years ago

I know you have been 'involved' with Leigh in the past, obviously you were 'more than a fan'back then, but if Leigh were in Championship One, I still couldn't miss any home games......though my away support has virtually disappeared.

Think the Pies do it slightly different my MD said something about their season tickets had a £30 voucher for up to 6 tickets for last Friday's game.

Not to sure in our division we could identify what could be classed as 'smaller' crowds.

At the risk of repeating myself, staying in the Championship is the only way we can survive.

The lack of P&R may have harmed our crowds, but if we got promoted then we'd be bankrupt before the end of a season.

Its probably too late now , and as has been suggested , the RFL have foooked it up now as far as it feeling like it actually matters , we are closing in on the point of no return where it wont be recoverable

As we have seen, things have devoloped in the championship this season in terrible way, so i'd say its massively important this club gets out of it as soon as possible.
The alternative to a large number of existing fans is totally unacceptable and i find it difficult to believe new fans will be brought in to compensate

I am not, nor have I ever been a Leigh fan, though I have good friends who have been.

My interest is personal as my son is loaned to Leigh at present. But I have to say that the negativity on this forum is depressing.

Promotion and relegation stopped 5 years ago and people are continuing to whinge about it. WHY? Leeds have been Super League champions for the last two years and I don't hear them complaining about not being promoted!

The fact of the matter is that if there had been p&r, Leigh would not have been promoted. And thank your stars for that, because with tenuous finances, it may have been the final straw in the club's existence. Salford got away by the skin of their teeth. Is there any guarantee that Leigh could have been so lucky?

Winning the competitions you are in should be the club and the fans' aim and it strikes me that there are one or two other clubs who may have more than a little say in that! If you were running away with the league year after year, the p&r whingers might have a case. But you're not!

Without wishing to put too much of a dampener on it, what will happen if Leigh are successful in their bid for Super League? From where will the money come to fund it? Will more "fans" really turn up to watch the inevitable weekly disappointment in the first season, with the odd few exceptions? I doubt that they would.

If fans can't be bothered to turn up to watch a team who win most of their matches, I don't think would come for frequent defeats.

So far as the recent plea for finances is concerned, I, personally, think that the club have got it wrong. Bradford proved many years go (then forgot) that if a club puts on a variety of entertainment prior to and after a match, even the only partially interested will give it a go. Also, the request for fans to ask their employers for money is little more than begging. How about offering local companies hospitality days. Tables of ten, meal, ticket, programme and parking for £2500. The companies know that it is overpriced, but are still more likely to go for something from which they get some return, rather than just being expected to open their hard pressed cheque books. Rob Parker should be concentrating on doing just that, in my opinion.

Rugby League has been my passion for many years. But I have no team, except whoever plays Wigan on the day, and more importantly, the team with which my son plays. Despite the frequent tampering with the rules, I would sooner watch RL than any other game and encourage anybody I speak with to do the same.

For what its worth while its not what the majority of users of this forum will want to hear its a thunderbolt of reality.

I’m not going to shoot him/her down as he/she as the right to their opinion, and I hope we look after his/her son, wish him well and hope he enjoys his time with us.

But for me the main crux about no P&R etc it’s not about if we are good enough, it’s that it removes the sense of occasion, the special tingle in fans and players bellys. You can’t compare teams at the very top.

I couldn’t tell you our league position, as I haven’t looked at the league table once this season it simply doesn’t matter where we are, but I do know that the team I’ll be shouting for tonight at Ewood are 16th probably no chance of promotion

and more likely if they don’t buck their ideas up could still be relegated. (Even though tonight’s game is about a possible visit to Wembley

I work in W!g@n and if you talk to their fans they’ll tell you they got better and rallied together because they had a season not too long ago where it looked at one point they could be relegated. That’s what sports supposed to be about players full of commitment, wanting/needing to win and fans going watching nervously because it matters, because we could 'win' promotion, because we could be relegated. Because we could win the Cup (50/1 Rovers

Interestingly I heard on the radio last week that Rangers (the Scottish lot not the Miners) are considering going to the European Court, as they beLeighve that preventing them from joining the English leagues is an illegal restriction of their Business under the European fair trade laws, it was mentioned that the impact of this should they win would have a similar effect of the Bosman ruling, and leagues all over Europe would not be allowed to put in place restrictive regulations that prevent clubs playing in whatever league. Whether this would apply to licensing rules for SL is currently anyone’s guess.

However the poster is correct in most of his points.

Time for the old boys at the RFL to go and bring in someone who will save a dying game, as if you look accross the board, even SL the attendances are down. Theres a thread on the VT with the SL and Championship attendences on.

The longer the set up remains the same, everyone attendances will begin to wane, even Fevs will decline again when they get rejected.
It was said at our LISA meeting we take 300 fans plus to away games but no one ever bring that many to ours.
