One game in and a heavy loss,should we be worried?No,plenty of time to sort it out,I wonder is Jukesy the Coach in name only?Should we be blaming KC?I really think we need to give Mortimer more responserbility as he should be the Organiser in the team,Reynolds just do it for me, Morty at 7, Hutch at 6, Baptiste at 9,on Sunday McCrone took on our line giving Brierley plenty of room to attack us ,Morty can do the McCrone job.
We seemed obsessed with crab movements of which Reynolds is a Master,trouble being we can't make breaks,let's use the speed of Bergal,and Dawson,no disrespect to Batley, Barrow and such like but we should run them ragged in the next 2 weeks,and get rid of the same old, same old tag.

Reynolds is just not good enough, plain and simple.

I dont know what hold he has, but he should be nowhere near the team.

Even the interception he threw to Key was 2 yards forward !!

Anyway, revenge next time ? I thought Toronto was pretty average to be fair and nothing special. Us on the other hand just gave up thinking we was going to cake walk it ! Got what we deserved !

Well, having backed Reynolds from "the off", these "shockers" disappointed me


1 When in the first half 10m from the line, when he kicked the ball dead, a class stand off would have seen Higson had already turned his back on play, and should have feigned to kick, and would have scored.

2 The kick that led to Corey's try was from someone not concentrating, just cruising.

3 He could have scored in the 2nd half with more conviction, but threw a crazy pass into touch.

4 Going to "clean out" Brierley was like going back to the 1970's




5 The pass that led to the last interception try was one of the worst I have EVER seen.

Reynolds is not good enough and he wasn't last season neither, the club seemed contempt on getting all of the Rowley team out of the club. I'm not saying Ridyard is super league quality but in my opinion his overall kicking game and passing game is better than Reynolds. In saying this though Reynolds wasn't the only player to have a stinker and some players need to take a good look at themselves after that game. I thought Mason ran hard and Peter got some good offloads away but other than that I didn't see that many positives. If I was a championship coach I would look to pin Leigh into their 10 with kicks as we seem to have absolutely no pace to go the full length. Some players unfortunately I didn't even notice them on the field.

Really big improvements needed to mount any challenge for super league. If improvements aren't happening then when does Derek make the decision? When is too late?

Have you looked on the clubs website - pretty sure there was a match report there with his comments either Sunday night of at the latest Monday morning

He reckons that ex players always play well on their return. I would dispute that, because I have witnessed some pretty anonymous returns from ex-Leythers. (e.g. Brierley for Huddersfield) Surely, it's more about what we did/didn't do?

We massively let ourselves down,” admitted Jukes. “We expected a lot of their guys to try and play their best game which you always do against your former club. And that’s what they did.

“But we stopped playing after about 15 minutes and got caught up too much in the emotional stuff.

M.O.M.for Fev. v. Fax (again) as per League Express. Now Baptiste is available , surely time to get Mortimer stand off and Hutchinson scrum half . Brierley showed the boo boys his class-we have no-one who could have scored that try he got in the second half.

Caught up in emotional stuff lol ... they are new guys in why would or should they be bothered about something that happened 2 years ago ... unless the coaches have been shoving it down their ears for weeks of course

Utter nonsense, I would expect every player I watch to try and play their best game every week.

He should have said, "We were clueless and under performed individually and collectively and got the result we deserved."

What gets to me is the they need time to gel excues I'm sorry but to do 5 drives and a kick which we don't normally get to doesn't need time,to play the percentages and territory u have to have a really good kicking game and I'm sorry we've not had one for a long time

To gel will take 5/6 games. The issue was the numbers game and the lack of communication both on the park and off it to put it right. They never got the numbers right once after that 2nd try.

Rarely got the numbers right in attack or defence in the last 2 years.

Different players + same coach = Same issues. He has to go.

I have to say that Ryan has developed whilst at Huddersfield and Toronto - his kicking game, and organisational skills seem to have improved. Also he was constantly talking to his team mates - something we don't seem to do much of. We still don't appear to have a winger anywhere near as good as Liam Kay, and Bob Beswick is still the excellent player/motivator he always was. Ah, those were the days!!

Hopefully, that's exactly what he did say, in the privacy of our dressing room.

Ben Reynolds, IMHO has been poor in both the Wigan and Saints pre season games and the Toronto match. I said after the St.Helens match that most of what he tries is either poorly executed or the complete wrong option.

I say this with the kindest of respect to the young man but I do not think he has the 'brain' to move Leigh around the park. He is certainly not on the same wave length as his Toronto stand off opposite.

Who ever made the decision to hand Reynolds a 3 year deal whilst sending Ridyard off to off to one of our competitors, in doing so handing a player who does possess a 'brain' and knows this division and its parks inside out, must know what he is doing. Right?

I have followed the comments on this post and agree with what is being said about our play during the game and players concerned. However with how we played to the end of last season and then the first game of this season its not just the poor performance on the field but the repercussions off the field. I have read on another post we are some 900 season ticket sales down this season, not good! But then to have a decent crowd for a Championship game turn up on Sunday and serve up that performance is going to impact the club.

I have read its early days we will get it together but I doubt very much we will have anything like the support against Batley on Sunday as we did last Sunday, be lucky if we have 2000 on. We need the support, yes we have a great set of core loyal fans that will see the club through thick and thin but we need the majority of fans that turned up on Sunday to come week in week out supporting the team and club.

I do hope the club, (Mr Beaumount) makes the right decisions very soon however difficult it may be, the current coach and set up isnt anything like good enough, yes he took us up to SL but he also took us straight back down!
