I had a brief chat with Shaun Wane this morning, what a nice guy,had a bit of banter when he saw my Leigh shirt, but wished us well for next season, he praised Ryan Hampshire and said if we sign him it would be a very good signing.All in all Shaun seems one of life's good guys.

I can't understand a word he says, (Shaun Wane, not Diggory). Just a lot of grunting in words of one syllable.

Shaun Wane is a legend.

He was one of the first people to play rugby in 1000000 BC, fresh with crocodile thong, beard and club to hand.

His dress sense has slightly improved and he plays golf to a good level.. His linguistic skills on the other hand .......MMMmmm !

His Coaching skills speak for themselves, you only have to look at his track record for winning Trophies, and the amount of youngsters he has rought through the ranks,one of which we at Leigh are hoping to sign, ie Ryan Hampshire.

If Hampshire is that good, why would Wane let him Go?

LF I haven't seen much of Hampshire,originally he was a half back, and it would be hard to displace Williams and Smith at the moment, then you have Lueluai arriving next year and young Sharrow waiting in the wings, put him at full back he has to displace Sam kins,and the wings have Tierney, and Manfredi and Burgess next year, not forgetting other talented youngsters, probably why Wane let him go , I bet he would have loved to keep him, look at the halves who over the years have left Wigan because they can't get into the team, in the coming years watch for Ellery Hanley coming through, this lad has talent.I personally know a couple of the Wigan coaching staff who say Hampshire , is fast, has a good head on his shoulders, is a good ball player, and can tackle,one let go over the past few years was Kevin Brown.

Well he certainly wasn't a few years back at a service area fundraiser , to the point that firstly he was lucky he didn't get his lights knocked out , and secondly the 3 tables from Leigh were on the verge of walking out until Dean Bell apologised for Mr Wanes behaviour

Obviously you have had a negative experience of Shaun, I cannot comment about that, but I've seen him speak at a couple of Dinners and he is very entertaining , he comes from the same part of Wigan as Gaz Hock, and tells a couple os very funny stories of Gaz.

I always speak as I find people,it's all about opinions yet again,I do know Shaun loves the Banter and welcomes the Wigan V Leigh rivalry,and I know how much he welcomes our promotion to SL, on the other hand I'm not sure Ian Leneghan is as positive with his views, but that's life.

I suppose we all bear grudges ,I myself try not to bear them for long, though I can't wait for next season hopefully to see Leigh give Wigan a good Leathering.

I would gladly trade 2 wins over [iThe Pies[/i for Super League survival & I haven't even had a drink yet !

Next season is gonna cost me some serious leave days, what with Wire, Widnes, Saints, Salford & of course [iThe Pies[/i at [iWigan Athletic Football Stadium[/i on the doorstep, then Leeds away & if I can afford it & the planets align (school term etc) Catalans in that French France.

Ste , our last venture into the SL was very painful and I for one didn't enjoy the experience, however our squad is so different this time around ,I'm very hopeful and think we can survive, obviously it won't be easy , but SL is meant to be hard , there is no hiding place , mistakes in SL usually end up in tris for the opposition,which is why I feel we need a couple of quality backs to add to our quality pack.

I remember that season well, too well, it haunts me still.

Good job us Leigh fans have a sense of humour & FWIW, I also think that 2017 will be very different, not least because of the forward planning by the Club & the chance to sign players early *if not in some cases a little too early* by virtue of being promoted with 2 games to go !!!
