The women who gave him first aid were Jane and my wife Anne. Hope the guy is OK. Eagles fans have a Facebook page Sheffield Eagles RLFC Supporters if you have any news I'm sure everyone would be grateful if you'd put something on there.

Needless to say everyone's thoughts from the Eagles are with Stephen. Praying he pulls through.

I can’t say how bad I feel at hearing this about Ste, I was too upset to post yesterday, knowing only too well what he and his family are going through and how they must be feeling at this moment, my son had a major heart issue earlier this year, thankfully he’s slowly returning to a something like a normal life, things like this shouldn’t happen to people so young.

Come on Ste you can do this. All our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.

If those of you who are close to the family, would kindly keep us informed it would be appreciated and also if any of the family wish to talk to people who’ve been/going through it please drop me a pm and I’ll give you my number to pass on.

I've had a message from Michael, Ste's brother, to ask me to post on here to thank everyone for their very kind thoughts and wishes. We should hopefully have an update later this afternoon.

Like many I don't know Stephen but hope he makes a full and speedy recovery.

Like everyone else I hope to hear encouraging news about Ste soon.

I must point out however my original post was wrong as it was the Sheffield club Doctor and not the Leigh club Doctor who rushed over to this unfortunate incident.

I was handed Janes number last night and have rang her earlier today to thank her for for what she and others did for Stephen on behalf of everyone associated with Leigh Centurions.

She was extremely emotional when I spoke to her and obviously shaken up by what had happened but has asked to be kept updated on his progress and I have promised to keep her informed as soon as any further news is made clear.

I also recieved the following message last night from Stephens brother:

I've invited Jane and hope Anne will join her to the return fixture so we can as a club properly express our gratitude for what they did and we hope that Stephen will be able to also thank her in person as we believe that he will beat this and come through fighting like the team he loves.

Never has the strap line "We are in this together" been more appropriate and from the board to all the staff and volunteers to the coaching staff and players along with the 18th man we are all together in this wishing Stephen a full and speedy recovery.

Just had a message from Ody that they are keeping Ste sedated until tomorrow and once again thanks for the countless best wishes from everyone.

Hi Matt, was gonna pm you about yesterdays rugby/footie, but with what has happened to Stephen, it all seems a little irrelevant at the moment.

We hope the lad's o.k. Puts things into perspective.
