Made me laugh , this.
ALL RU props are "rotund", and , apart from being able to shove a bit in the scrum, offer nothing else.
Apart from Solomona, and Widders, i cant think of another "chunky" in SL.
Props should have a physique like Mick Vella, the ideal modern day forward!

Remember Bradford entering the HQ sevens the day after a game and winning it? All the RU commentators started by saying 'nice to see Bradford making a guest appearance'
then they beat a team or two and it was 'Bradford suprising a few'
then they beat teams like Leicester and Bath and it was 'Bradford getting confident, but they havn't played FIJI yet!'
Bradford won about 34-0 I think.
Leon Pryce pasted someone too.
Funny.
I hate Stuart Barnes, he wasn't happy, I was.

The only thing funny is your complete lack of knowledge.
A prop in union has a completely different job to do than in league. Theres not one RL prop who could hold his own in the scrum against any of the premiership teams. The set piece in RU is a completely different animal than in RL and far more important. If you think all they do is bend over and push you know nothing. Willie Mason can't play in the front row in RU the French are struggling to find a position for him different games require different attributes.
Its all well and good people talking about how we beat the rah rahs 20 years ago in a sevens competition when it was essentially a part time sport. RU has moved on and if you can't see it you are either blind or deluded.
I have stated on here before that RL is my first choice sport but I appreciate RU for what it is. There are lots of bad games but there is a hell of a lot of good stuff to watch take a look at the Super 15 games.
One thing everyone on here should know is that the RFU no longer see RL as a threat no RU players are banging on the door to get into RL and it is not because they are not good enough it's that RL has nothing to offer them anymore.

My mistake. We walked the first game, against Richmond if I remember correctly, but Lindsay was reportedly baited by various RFU people in the boxes pre-kick off. That was one of the strangest days watching rugby I've ever had. We scored, polite clapping. The opposition scored and the crowd were up on their feet shouting and jumping.

Is that why a 34 year old (sorry 30 year old, I forgot you lose 4 years when you sign for a union club) with shot knees ended up playing centre for ENGLAND when he had been moved to prop at Wigan?
It wasn't 20 years ago, it was 9 when Bradford won it by miles, they've not been invited back since.
What was that lad called who was god awful at Widnes and Salford, ended up playing for England RU? Tyrer?
A prop in union has to be able to push. That's it, be heavy, and push. Wow, what an athlete!
And scrums in union arn't anything to brag about, every union fan I know knows it's a mess.

But league and union are completely different sports so it would be incredible if a rugby league prop [i could[/i walk straight into union and hold his own in the scrum. I doubt Rio Ferdinand would be much use in the centres just as some of the second rowers in union would look like statues in league. What you tend to find at all levels is that backs find it easier to move from league to union.

I suggest you read my post again and then respond to the points I made instead of trying to give a history lesson.
The point being made and that you have proved is that the majority of RL fans don't watch and don't understand union and therefore slag it off as it is the easiest option.

They don't watch it because it's .
They do understand it, and I undestand why the rah rahs think it's a technical game-it's because they're all stupid.
It's not a complicated game at all, which is the default term their idiotic fans always bat back to us. There are just a lot of rules.

Tony, one thing I would say is that while they are some rugby league fans who slag off union it isn't the majority. In my experience the majority couldn't give a rat's about the sport. And don't think the sniping, mocking and name calling is a one-way street. I posted on Planet Rugby for a goodly while and the abuse I and others who followed rugby league got was unreal at times.

| Quite enjoying the RUWC to be honest. There are good and bad games in every sport. I've seen some dire RL matches in my time. My advice to people who can't stand RU is don't watch it. I'll support England in whatever sport they play.

| Anyone who thinks RU is a posh or middle class game, so go down to Tyldesley RUFC on a Saturday afternoon. There's room in this world for more than one sport I think. Union is a much different game to League, anyone who went to see the Wigan v Harlequins (I think) game in the 90's or the Saints v Sale game around 8 years ago can see that. One half played League and the half played Union. Union teams won both those games.

We (Wigan) played Bath in May 1996. Wigan won the game under league rules 82-6 at Maine Road while Bath won the game under union rules at Twickenham 44-19.

I may be wrong, but i thought Wigan won one half (the league half, and Quins the union half), but Wigan won overall when the points were added up.

I went to the Saints v Sale game. It was awful. Also there was a lot of confusion over the timings in which union was played for 50 minutes because they don't stop the clocks in union, so they had to shorten the half of league to keep to schedule.

Wigan hammered Bath in the first cross codes, which was 2 legs.
My brother in law plays for Leigh RU and he's a stuck up tit.
