| They do. It's the players sing song after a win. Proper over reaction. It's just another song sung on the terraces, not all that often any more but the odd one offs aren't going to change the world or peoples opinion of Leigh and our fans, it doesn't cause fighting or any direct insult like 'your mums your dad', 'sheep shaggers' chants etc which IMO are far worse!
It was the first Leigh rugby song I heard and learnt as a 10 yr old watching Leigh and it was a lot more common back then than it is now!

The players sing it for camaraderie good.
Those of us who think this is a storm in a teacup are ahead.

That's right, they do!
However if the RFL started too fine the club over it, would you as a fan still sing it, knowing it would get the club in bother?

| Are there W1ganers playing for Leigh? Will W1ganers in the future be playing for Leigh? I would be surprised (and hope they don't) sing it word for word.
Why oh why do we have the "well school kids say worse in the school yard", or "other clubs chant this and that" ? Why oh why can we not be leading the way in getting the family club image in RL? Can't ban the song of course, but it would help if the club stopped playing the tune that encourages it to be sang, and it would help if fans looked at it themselves properly and think of the club and maybe realise it is a bit dated and does not involve supporting Leigh by singing it.

| Last thing I am ever going to post on this subject. The reason the players sing it is because they think it is the Leigh fans anthem (which it is in a way) and favourate song. The other reason is that it is the only real catchy song with several rhyming lines in it that we have. Please , please , please just rewrite the words to the same tune. "Lobby on draft and a beetroot chaser" is the only thing left I have to say.

| The players may well sing it in the privacy of the changing room; fair enough. Totally different to fans on the terraces.
It is outdated, irrelevant and offensive. We want more kids and families at LSV not fewer. This kind of thing would prevent me from bringing my kids until they were much older. By then they probably wont want to come.
Get rid of it and if a few idiots continue singing it and other such rot then get rid of them. The club is better off without them.

I think you are missing the point a bit if that is what you think. Its seen as our anthem by some, but doesn't seem to mention Leigh Centurions in any way.
Personally I don't like IRA reference or chanting "F@ck" in unison either in a supposedly family RL club.
Also there is nothing wrong with being a member of the Leigh Tiddlywinks club!!!

| I have voted against the song ,i really enjoy singing at matches and so do the people i sit with but we have never, and never will sing the flute song until the words are changed to show that we are proud to support Leigh rugby, the tune is very catchy so its a shame the words are'nt.At the match on Sunday it was a fantastic atmosphere with all the Leythers singing until of course the flute song ,i am always glad when its ended for me and my mates its a real cringer.

Isn't there a bit after the IRA bit ? I have always said swearing is a fact' practically everyone does it sometimes. It depends on the context the swear word is made' doesn't it before you decide if you are upset by it. For example if you are earwigging a conversation and you hear the dreaded F word a few times how does it make you feel ? Are you outraged ? What if there is a group of 30 friends talking' and' a mixed group at that- if you heard say a woman use the F word and it was not said aggressively would you be traumatised ?
I play Bridge too and I am outraged by the reference to that by MapleLeyther.
The flute song it seems to me makes some people cringe not because they personally are outraged by it but because they think others will be outraged by it.
Listening to Radio Smooth early in the morning on Saturday and Sunday makes me cringe because Tony Blackburn is infantile. When it gets bad I go and put the kettle on.

How long would a flag with "F@ck W1gan Rugby and the IRA" last if I brought it to LSV and hung it up - any modern stadium for that matter?
I think we can safely say that 99.99999% are against terrorists for goodness sake......but it doesn't mean you can't look at it and think what the f@ck we singing that for really? First impressions also do influence when new fans hear it and can't quite understand all the words but get IRA or F@ck. For me it is a catchy tune - but its them words that give the club a bad image.
And for those that use the sensitive ears type of comments I did actually sing it at top of my voice at the Pie Stadium in 2005, but since then I have grown to hate it when sung at games. This is a top corner of the Kippax fan typing this too

Does "You'll Never Walk Alone" mention Liverpool FC (or even Liverpool for that matter)?
Does "Delilah" mention Stoke City?
At least the song ends with "Leigh"!
And to those members of the Leigh Tiddlywinks Association whom I have offended, I sincerely apologise.
I would be happy with stuff Wigan rugby and the RFL...

| You'll never walk alone is a major trade mark of the red scousers. So the song is relevant tbh
Delilah actually got a good round of applause for one of Stokes renditions at Maine Road once. Its a harmless uplifting tune when sung at full pelt.
Blue Moon gets the goose bumps going some match days, and is inspiring and harmless. The club also use it (words and all) as a major marketing gimmick for evening kick offs with all lights going out and just a blue moon on the big screen this season.
We have the tune - but the wrong words. Regarding being bitter about RFL is hardly great either. We want uplifting words for a good tune.
ps If anyone is interested we are short on numbers for the Tiddlywinks trials tomorrow evening if anyone is interested.

| waving a flag and singing a moronic song are completely different, but again I say point out where and what I wrote are factually incorrect? and nowhere did I say WE sang it I have never sang it never would never will, I am not the hypocrite here unlike yourself, by your own words.
