Never been to Hunsleticon_eek.gif How old are you?



Anyone remember the time we went there and Ingy was going to kick at goal from the touchline on Halfway after a try i think the ref told him he could go closer if he wanted hahaha

wish we were at home but it could have been a lot worse.

Is it the one with just 1 stand and grass all round with running track ,if it is i remember last time i went Hunslet kicked for goal and it missed by a country mile but it was given and all the Leigh fans sat there very bemused

Was called the South Leeds Stadium (maybe still is).
If my memory is right Leigh was the first team Hunslet played at the new ground back in South Leeds when it opened......we got beat


Indeed with Fax officially opening a stand v Leigh we do seem to get the new ground / stand deal in West Yorkshire, remember us going to Dewsbury to be the first team they played at there new (current) ground.

i think the last time i watched hunslet away was at elland road but iv'e no idea when that was.

I remeber playing against Hunslet when they played at the dog track. Seem to remember HKR's place being one also.

Didn't Hunslet originally play at Parkside?

When they moved were't the called New Hunslet?

Was that a dog track? It would have been 1980 when we played there.

I can't really remember although I visited there. I think the next ground they played at after that was a dog track stadium.

Last time we played at Parkside Geoff Gunney was coach and my hair was a lot longer.

They then moved to a greyhound Stadium then Elland Rd before their current home

Quite correct frank, it had bars everywhere but you had to pay admission to get in!

Geoff Gunney was a GB International and played RL well into his forties.

Have never been to Hunslet so glad to finally get the chance to tick that particular groundhopping box!

Would not surprise me if Hunslet make this all ticket. They only have one stand which holds 2500, but it is a nice one !!!

I remember when they played at the Greyhound Stadium and had those Americian football goal posts up with only one post instead of the two the post supporting the crossbar was postioned on the dead ball line and Geoff piggy Fletcher ran thro to score much to his delite
before putting the ball over what he thought was the tryline but was in fact the dead ball line
his face was a picture when the ref disallowed it

me neither Matt, there and Workington, thought I would get the chance when we were "relegated" , our reprieve has denyed me the chance of Worky but now with the cup draw, I can also experience Hunslet.

Good draw.....think I'll be going to my 1st away game this season.

I think it's now called the John Charles Sports Academy or something similar. And we were and we did

cheap beer yes, but close to dewsbury ground n your playing hunslet.

Minor point on here is that they prefer cheap ale to rugby anyday

We have a nice bar in the stadium called the Phoenix Bar and you can enjoy a drink in there before, at half time, and also at full time. Friendly atmosphere and good banter.

Looking forward to this game should be a belter. I think you will be too strong for us like but i thought Halifax would be also. If you do knock us out i would like to see Leigh go on to win the comp.

We as fans are delighted to be in the quarter's after the last few seasons we have had, we have come a long way since been the worst team in Pro Rugby League to beating and knocking out the favourites to win the NRC and also the Championship. See you all soon!!!!

Funnily enough, Workington is the only other one that I've not been to (Catalans and South Wales don't count while we've never played them!)
